Europe travel?

I am traveling to Europe for the first time for three weeks in January 09. For the most part, I will be staying in Brussels with my uncle, but I will want to get out and see the sights as well. I don't have time to visit every country but would like to visit as much as I can. Specifically, I know I will be in London for a few days and then on to Brussels. I would also like to visit the Netherlands, Luxemburg, Germany, and possibly France. Since I have never been there, I am asking for any tips at all (even if it doesn't pretain to the countries I mentioned). If you have been there, please tell me anything about your experience. I'm looking for answers about places that must be discovered, train information, weather, food, museums, FREE adventures are a bonus! whatever you can think of!

  1. I just got back from traveling in Europe, and trust me, you're going to love it! I went to Spain, France and Italy, and had a blast, although I wish I had the chance to go many other places. The train system in Europe is amazing. They have trains going from anywhere to anywhere all day long and for cheap. I would definitely recommend taking the train as often as you can. Airplanes are also super cheap too, like if you need to go a further distance, I went from Madrid, Spain to Venice, Italy for 60 euros! (Try Vueling Air, they were great!) Also, many museums offer free admission like the first Monday of each month (that's how I saw the Louvre for free!), so look up information on that. I would also recommend buy The Lonely Planet books, pertaining to where you are going... (you can probably get a Western Europe one) they are very helpful and highlight the best places to go and how much things cost. Also, try every different food you can, even if it sounds gross, trust me, you'll find a new appreciation for food you never thought you would! Have so much fun!

  2. If you want to go to the Netherlands and Germany, etc, you should take the train there. It's the best way to see the mountains and the snow, if your a fan of snow which I hope you are because your going in january. when your in london you should go to warwick castle, maybe go to oxford , you have to go to Buckingham Palace and go to the park in front of it where they have the strangest ducks in the world, also the Tower of London has great history and you can see the crown jewels, take a ride on the London Eye, Cabinet War Rooms, Shakespeare's Globe Theatre and maybe see a play there, take a boat on the River Thames, and there's this one resturant by katherine bay or something with rich medival food that has something to do with henry the 8th that I enjoyed. but all these places I went to in july so things might be different in january.
