European Championship Division One Twenty20 Series: Tournament Recap
Team Denmark brought a close to the European Championship Division One Twenty20 (T20) Series as the proud Danish skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Michael-Refstrup-Pedersen-c76168 held the tournament cup high after his side defeated the Italians in the competition’s final bout on Sunday, July 24,
2011, at the FB Fields St Clement.
Taking off on July 19, the series came out with 12 participants from the European region divided amongst two groups. The roster for Group A featured http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Germany-c2904,

The competition came as the 4th Division One Series for the year following the recent International Cricket Council (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625) administered regional tournaments in the East Asia Pacific, the African region, and the Americas; all intended towards finding
the top participants for the upcoming ICC World Twenty20 Qualifiers in UAE, scheduled in January, next year.
As for the European Championship, the competition spanned from July 19 till the finale on the 24th with a total of 30 group matches followed by the eventual position deciders, all staging between St Peter Port, St Clement, Port Soif, St Brelade,
St Helier, St http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Christopher-Alroy-Martin-c50714, St Saviour, and Castel.
Day 1 took to the field with 12 fixtures as each team geared up to participate in 2 matches apiece. With the close of the day, Belgium, Italy, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Guernsey-c40999 and Jersey remained triumphant after securing 2 successive wins each.
With the rain playing spoilsport, the following day resulted in abandonment, moving the fixtures to the reserved day on July 21.
The procession went on with 12 more games on the third day with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Denmark-c2884, Germany, and Norway securing another 2 consecutive wins.
After an additional two more days of play, the competition entered the finale, featuring 6 position deciders including the eventual tournament decider.
With the close, Denmark earned the top spot earning the tournament title, followed by Italy in second position and Jersey on the third. The following respective spots (based on positions) were held by Guernsey, Norway, France, Belgium, Austria, Gibraltar,
Germany, Croatia and Israel respectively.
The teams offered an impressive run throughout the competition producing some star performers for the audience.
To begin with, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Frederik-Andreas-Klokker-c58029 stood out to be the top batsman on the tournament. The Danish star player aggregated a total of 238 runs with an individual best performance of 91 runs, while remaining not out.
As for the second position, Jersey batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Edward-John-Farley-c55411 secured the spot with an impressive total of 231 runs from a total of 7 matches. Italian player Damian Crowley came in third with 216 runs. The player’s best run included a notable not out innings
worth 77 runs.

spot with 14.
