European Championship T20: Norway beat Austria by 9 wickets- Match Recap
Norway defeated Austria by 9 wickets after a bland competition yesterday, July 21 at College Field, St Peter Port in Group A game of European Championship Division One T20 tournament. The match was totally drab and one-sided that disappointed the viewers.
Amar Naeem, the skipper of Austria, threw the coin and won the toss, electing to bat first at the neutral venue.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Norway-c2974 started delivering the new ball. The skipper hit a stylish boundary in the very first over of the innings and it was expected that he would give tough time to the rival bowlers.
Soon, the dust of thrill blew over as a swing delivery of Aamir touch the pads of Naeem and the umpire raised his finger to declare LBW out. The Norwegians jumped up with joy at their first mega success.
After the fall of the first wicket, Deep and the one-down, Lakmal Kasturiarachchige, played meticulously and showed a little resistance for some overs, scoring 11 and 13 respectively.
Lakmal was caught on Aamir’s short ball while Deep was stumped unluckily while stepping forward to hit a six. The both had one boundary each.
There began the demise of Austria as none of the preceding batsman could stay on the crease and make double figures. The Norwegian bowlers played havoc on the field and ripped through the batting line-up of the rivals.
In the top-order, Syed Qamar and Benji Loader scored 3 each while in the middle-order, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Imran-c64193 Asif, Wasif Saluja and Satyam Subhash made 1 , 3 and 6 respectively.
The lower-order was also unimpressive as Nandeep Soggi, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Munir-Ahmed-c78000 fell on duck, 3 and 1 respectively.
It was the end of the Austrian innings as the entire team was washed out for just 64 runs in the 6.3 overs. The total included 14 extras.
In the bowling line-up of Norway, Aamir, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammd-Waseem-Gill-c77502 and Babar Shahzad bowled one player each.
The target of 65 runs was just a http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adeel-Ibrar-c41975 opened the inning with relax minds and jolly moods as the prospects of victory were clear before them.
The start was marvellous ad the both the openers flexed their muscles to hit boundaries and sterling strokes. The already dejected Austrian bowlers lost the remaining courage when the opening partnership crossed the figure of 20. Ashiq scored 20 off 16 balls
with the help of 3 fours and one six.
However, the run out of Ashiq gave a little relief to the rivals but http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zeeshan-Ali-c98580, the skipper, soon turned this serenity into agony.  Ibrar and Ali played very well and achieved the target in just 9 overs by making 20 and 21 not out respectively.
Thus, Norway won the game comfortably and easily by 9 wickets.
