European Championships 2012: Christinna Pedersen – Kamilla Rytter Juhl claim Women’s Doubles title
Denmark’s ace players Christinna Pedersen and Kamilla Rytter Juhl showed their wonderful skills and claimed Women’s Doubles title at the European Championships 2012 in Sweden, on Saturday, April 21.
The World Number 6 Pedersen and Juhl, who were top seeds in European Championships, showed their aggression in the title match where they toppled their compatriots Line Damkjaer Kruse and Marie Roepke in straight games.
Pedersen and Juhl were impressive in their game plan as they did not let their rivals to take even a single game and grabbed the title.
On the other hand, Kruse and Roepke put up a strong resistance against their higher ranked opponents but could not escape defeat as they failed to play positive badminton in the concluding points of both games.
The top seeded Pedersen and Juhl ended the final match in two games by taking 42 minutes in the court.
Right from the starting points, both sides played with aggression and precision and no pair could manage a decent lead until the one-minute break.
They kept the pace of rallies quite fast and remained close to each other on the score board.
After the interval, Pedersen and Juhl took control of rallies and managed to manipulate the loopholes of their rivals by working well at the net.
The higher ranked Danish shuttlers played with wonderful aggression and bagged the opening game with a tremendous margin of 21-17.
In the second set, both sides put up remarkable show of attacking play when they kept the rallies quite fast. They did not miss any chance to earn points and both pairs remained close until the break.
After the one-minute interval, Pedersen and Juhl tried to manage lead by playing well at net but this time they failed to manage it as Kruse and Roepke were also quicker.
The score was 22-22 when Pedersen and Juhl played smart badminton and grabbed two consecutive points to finish the second game with a 24-22 score on the board.
Pedersen and Juhl emerged as winners in this 42-minute Women’s Doubles title match with a decent margin of 21-17 and 24-22.
