European Club Championships: Joel Gayle trounces Atli Johannesson in Men’s Singles battle
England’s Joel Gayle opened his campaign in an expected manner as he played absolutely fantastic badminton and trounced Atli Johannesson of Iceland in Men’s Singles battle at European Club Championships 2012 in Hungary, on Tuesday, May 29.
The English shuttler showed his aggression in the court while competing against Johannesson and emerged as the winner with a convincing margin on the score board.
The in-form Gayle employed his hard-to-learn skills in the court and overpowered his rival in straight games while taking just 23 minutes.
On the other hand, Johannesson could not put up strong resistance against the dominating play of his opponent and bowed to his without taking any set in this lopsided competition.

After the interval, Gayle changed his strategy and started to employ powerful smashes and fast drop shots to disturb the flow of his opponent.
The English man remained successful in his plan and managed to win the second set with a reasonable 21-15 score on the board.
