European Club Championships: Scott Burnside hammers Laurens Pluquet in Men’s Singles encounter
Ireland’s impressive shuttler Scott Burnside surprised everyone when he displayed a phenomenal show of attacking badminton and hammered Belgium’s Laurens Pluquet at the European Club Championships 2012 on Tuesday, May 29, in Hungary.
The Irish man was playing the best badminton of his career as he did not commit any mistake in the whole contest and registered a sensational victory over his Belgian rival in a spectacular fashion.
The in-form Burnside shuttler played at his best speed and did not face any trouble from his Belgian challenger and eventually finished off the battle in straight sets which consuming just 25 minutes in the court.
In the meanwhile, Pluquet played to his maximum potential but failed to match the speed and skills in the game and lost to him in a completely one-sided fashion with a huge difference on the score board.
Burnside started his campaign in a dominating manner as he executed his shots with impressive precision and remained ahead on the score board at the initial stage in the opening set.
On the other hand, the Belgian shuttler could not live up to expectations as he failed to play attacking badminton and remained struggling in all areas of the court.
Until the one-minute interval, Burnside was the one who took a stunning lead on the board.
After the break, Burnside remained positive in the court and continued his commanding run in the opening set and easily won it with a smashing 21-7 score on the board.
In the second game, Pluquet played slightly better as he showed a few glimpses of his class but failed to maintain his positive run in the court.
The Belgian could not match the impressive speed of his Irish opponent and remained far behind on the score board until the mid-game break.
After the break, Burnside continued his composed play without facing any interruption from his Belgian opponent in the whole concluding phase and finished it up with a remarkable 21-11 score on the board.
The impressive Burnside emerged as the winner against Pluquet in straight games with a superb margin of 21-7 and 21-11.
