European Grand Prix 2010 Preview in Valencia, Spain
It is time that the Formula One carnival moves to its next destination. This time, the cars are fleeing for the European Grand Prix in Valencia, Spain. The Spanish air is filled with jubilation and excitement as Formula One drivers move towards this land. The place had always been famous for its rich culture and an exotic cuisine - especially the great sea food from the coastal areas, enchanting music, magical dancing and its superb architecture. All this is able to magnetise tourists all around the year but this time, the upcoming Grand Prix in Spain has been able to excite the people of the country as well as those who visit it.
Amidst the FIFA season, when the Spanish team, also nick named La Furia, has gained their form back and had won their last match against Honduras, here comes another reason in the form of this F1 race for the Spaniards to cherish. They are ready to hail and celebrate the much anticipated event on their soil.
This ninth race of the year is very special as it not only marks almost the middle of the F1 season, but also holds a number of other reasons as well.
After the unforgettable battle witnessed at the Montreal track earlier this month, it is time to unwrap action at the Valencia arena now. The teams, the drivers, the constructors and the race lovers have said enough but now it is time to see the action.
The race holds a lot in it, first of all it is the Red Bull Racing team that has claimed to utilise their special F-Duct system in the race. Previously, the system was used in the practice session of the Turkish Grand Prix as well, but due to some technical complications, it was not used on the final race day. Now, they have come up with the news that the final testing has been done and they have improvised their already unbeatable RB6 to a newer level.
Red Bull had been leading the drivers’ as well as the Constructors’ Championship earlier this year, till they faced the disappointing crash at the Istanbul Track, which resulted in the victory from the McLaren Team, whose drivers, Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button ended at first and second place respectively. The same McLaren Team performed well in the Canadian Grand Prix as well. As a result, the Red Bull Racing team was removed from the top slot.
At the Valencia track, the Red Bull would be making their best effort to get back to the top slot once again. Their drivers and the cars are in their best form this season so one could hope for a miraculous result from the team.
On the other hand, it would be the McLaren drivers that would give a very tough competition on the track. As previously demonstrated by the McLaren engineering director, Paddy Lowe, many major changes have not been made in the car. However, a solid team strategy has been designed for the drivers.
Winning for McLaren is very important on the other end of the spectrum. It is because they attained the top position at the Constructors’ Championship only in the last race and if they are not able to repeat their good performance in Spain, they might slip down from their top slot. Moreover, if Hamilton is able to win, it would be his third consecutive victory of the season.
At the same time, this race means a lot to Jenson Button, the last year’s champion, who stands at second place in the Drivers' Championship so far, who is expected to fight hard to win the first position once again.
Moreover, Team Ferrari is also expected to give a tough competition as the team has claimed to have a few real threatening technological advancements in their car, like the new aerodynamic system, for which they excited about.
Above all, the most spectacular man of the race is expected to be Michael Schumacher, who has made his comeback this year, after he announced his retirement in the year 2007. Since his arrival back to the track, the traces of the old invincible driver, the record making winner of seven World Championships could not be seen in him again. The German man had to face immense criticism after his poor driving during the last Grand Prix in Montreal. It is hoped now that he is going to show wonders in this race, as he had always been in his glorious years.
A lot of drama, thrill and adventure is expected to begin as the first qualifying session starts in Valencia today and would conclude on Sunday. Who will hit a purple patch on this weekend, only time will tell...
