  1. I can't even begin to explain, but I will tell you that the event that influenced all the rest was the Enlightenment. It set up political, social, and economic ideals which would lead to government, nationalism, militarianism, imperialism, alliances, war, and human rights.

  2. That is an incredibly broad question, and one could go on for hours about everything. However, I'll only list a few.

The Roman Empire: Well, they lasted for a 1000 years, conquered everything from Spain to Iraq, and Egypt to England. Because of their huge empire, that's why practically everything is what it is today  in Europe(culture, architecture, language, countries).

French Revloution and Napoleon: It was an incredibly bloody war, the Revolution, and the result was Emperor Napoleon, who waged war with almost every country in the continent.

The World Wars: I don't really have to say anything, since I'm sure you know all about it.

Cold War: The continent was split in two, with democracy on one hand, and communism on the other.

  3. Wow, it is really a very broad question.

    I would add:

The Plague that killed a large part of population.  The historians say that it affected the course of history for many many years.

Inquisitions (there were actually four of them - Spanish, Papal, Portuguese and Protestant)

Battle of Vienna in 1683.  The Ottoman Turks were ready do take over the entire Europe and spread Islam.  They were stopped in Vienna.

    Reign of Louis XIV.

    The Industrial Revolution.

  4. 10,000 years ago it was covered by a huge sheet of ice.

Otzi the iceman died in a hunting trip.

Salt was discovered in Austria and people became rich from selling the salt to the Greeks and other peoples.

Greek colonists build the town of Massila on the southern coast of Gaul.

Julius Caesar conducts a genocidal campaign against the Gauls.

A new religious sect called christianity arrives in Europe from the middle east.

But really, there's only about 12,000 years of European activity to consider.

  5. A LOT happened in Europe.  Here are some examples:

    *Charlemagne and the first Reich

    *Vikings

    *Battle of Hastings

    *Hundred Years' War

    *Crusades
