I snore like a mad man, should I be worried about getting kicked out of european hostel? I will be staying in a few hostels in Amsterdam, Paris, and London in August.

I am wondering if anyone knows any trouble I will run into, Thx.

  1. So do I.  Apparently, travelling to Europe made it worse.  My son and husband complained so loudly that I had to get Breathe Right strips, which, thankfully, are available in Europe!  (just get some, and use them...you'll at least snore more softly.)

  2. Yep - you should try 'Slumber Guard".

Nasal Strips only work for nasal passage restriction.  alot of snoring comes from the throat instead.

The Slumber Guard holds the lower jaw in a forward position in order to keep the throat airways open.

  3. Don't worry about it.  You'll be surprised by how many people snore.  And the ones who complain the most are usually the loudest snorers!  Anyone planning to stay in a hostel should be prepared to take earplugs with them.   So go and enjoy your holiday, and forget about things like this.

  4. Don't worry about a thing! I stayed in one in Berlin and people were running through every night drunk and screaming at the top of their lungs. Everyone is used to it.

  5. I only snore when having a cold, but when traveling I often pick up a cold.

Mostly people do not mind snoring, they may wake you up if it is too bad.

But I have had one hostel where one of the other guests was getting up, with a lot of noise and full lights on at 4 in the morning, so the other people in the dorm where also fully awake.

(They had heard me snore but understood that I did not do it on purpose, this one women had been a pain in the places better not mentioned from the moment she arrived.)

But I have started to book single rooms more often since, specially when I am starting to snore again.

That might be an option for you too.
