European Men Volleyball League action resumes today
The 2011 CEV European Volleyball is scheduled to enter the 5th week today (Friday, June 24).
The campaign has been through four successful weeks and fans have witnessed some thrilling matches. Better teams rose up, while some are still struggling to catch the limelight. A total of 12 men’s teams from different European countries are fighting the
battle of supremacy. So far, Slovenia has shown great effort and climbed up to the top slot in Pool A. Likewise, Spain and Romania have topped Pool B and C in the first four weeks of the tournament. The standings can still be varied as the prelims will continue
for two more weeks. Let’s see which matches are lined up next.
Pool A
Teams from Slovenia, Belgium, Great Britain and Croatia have been playing under the tag of Pool A. In the opening match of 5th week, Slovenia is scheduled to take on Croatia in Pool A. The match will be hosted by Croatia at 1930 local time. It is surely
an easy match for team like Slovenia. The two sides had their first meeting in the second week of the tournament. Croatia was clean-swept by Slovenia in the first match. However, Croatia gave a hard time to Slovenian side in second match, which lasted for
five sets. Once again Croatia is required to produce a flawless performance against Slovenia, in order to shake off the bad impression. Croatia could only capture one match in the previous four weeks. This time around, Croatia has the advantage of playing
at home. Fans are desperate to see their team with the tag of winners.
Pool B
Austria and Spain are set to stage a cracking fight in Pool B on Friday, June 24. Spanish crew has travelled to Austria for this crucial match, which is supposed to start in evening. Austria will have certain advantages in the game for being the host of
the fixture. The Austrian team has a better chance to prove their endeavours in front of local audience. The team has not been able to perform up to the mark in previous matches. They won just one match but lost seven. Spain, on the other hand, is in a very
strong position. Spaniards have displayed an incredible show of volleyball and have clawed their way to the top position in Pool B. It is more likely, they will outdo Austrian team in Friday’s match. Anyhow, it is a mystery until the two sides approach the
court and compete. Keep in touch for latest results.
Pool C
Pool C is also waiting a great fight between Turkey and Belarus on Saturday, June 25. Both teams are rated as average contenders on the podium of 2011 CEV European League. Turks appeared in 8 matches during the past four weeks of the preliminary round and
captured only two out of them. Currently, they are ranked fourth in Pool C. Nevertheless, Team Belarus has a slight advantage over Turkey. They won three matches and settled for third slot in the standings. They are tipped to take advantage of the opportunity
of playing under familiar conditions in the next match against Turkey. Romania and Slovakia are the two top teams in Pool C. It is generally believed they both of them will make it to the next round.
