European Team all set to win the Vivendi Seve Trophy after ten years
European team have seem to taken complete control of the final day proceedings of Vivendi Seve Trophy being played at St-Nom-La-Bretèche in Paris, France and the Great Britain and Ireland’s (GB&I) ten-year consecutive dominance is now under serious threat.
The GB&I, who have been leading in the first and third day of the Match Play event, succumbed to the brilliance of European captain Jean Van de Velde, who pulled in his in-form players who met immediate success, breaking through the ranks of the GB&I team.
Thomas Bjorn, winner of last week’s Omega European Masters, thrashed the world number two Lee Westwood by 2&1. Westwood, who had met early success today, when he reeled out three birdies on the opening holes, remained birdie-less in the rest of the round
where Bjorn churned out five birdies to overtake Westwood.
“Lee came out this morning and was sensational the first few holes,” said Björn. “It was just a case of hanging on and hanging on, but a couple of mistakes and it let me back in. I played some nice stuff near the end but it was a hard-fought battle.”
Bjorn was the captain of the European side two years ago where the team was defeated for a staggering fifth time by the GB&I.
Anders Hansen utilized his tons of experience to overpower the otherwise in-form Simon Dyson by one hole. Dyson won the KLM Open just a week ago and had played on the previous day on the course.
Italian Francesco Molinari defeated Jamie Donaldson with a comprehensive performance of 4&3. He carded five birdies against Donaldson’s single birdie putt at par-five, 7th.
Alexander Noren winner of the Saab Wales Open and the Nordea Masters on the European Tour landed another stellar performance on the last day where he defeated Robert Rock with 4&3.
Veteran Miguel Angel Jimenez took over the Open Championship winner Darren Clarke by 4&2 carding eight birdies against Clarke’s four.
Scott Jamieson  was the only GB&I player who won his respective round where he defeated Pablo Larrazabal by 1 hole while  Ross Fisher is also leading his round and is 1up against Peter Hanson with last two holes to go.
