Montgomorie after playing the practice round said, “I believe that I can win again. I need to win again because I want to get back into the top 50 in the world and I want to compete at the very highest level again. The quickest way to do that is by winning and that is certainly the aim, hopefully this is the start of me making my way back.”
The Scottish veteran has also won the European Tour Order of Merit eight times in the past. He was satisfied and happy with the course conditions and was of the view that the course will surely be challenging.
Soren Hansen of Denmark is also one of the contenders who is looking to regain his form in this tournament. The Danish golfer has not posted a win since the past four years and is hoping to celebrate his birthday along with a win on the final day. Hansen has only had two victories playing on the European Tour and is confident to mark another victory; the 36-year old will also be looking forward to improve his world golf rankings.
Some of the Europe’s best players are also featuring in this four day event. Chowrasia is coming off a victory on his home soil at the Avantha Masters and is confident of improving his record. His compatriot Singh is more experienced and is confident of scoring some good under-par rounds on all the four days.
