European Under-19 Championship Division Two 2011: Denmark v France – Match Recap
The Denmark young side went on to secure their third consecutive win on the European Under-19 (U19) Championship Division Two 2011, after defeating France U19 with a massive margin of 7 wickets. The opening Group B match of the day took off at the King William’s
College No 2 Ground, Castletown on Friday, July 29, 2011.
Winning the toss, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Denmark-c2884 skipper, Christian Peck-Thorsted, took on a fruitful decision after putting the French team into batting first.
With http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Collins-c51521 opening the French batting session, the Danish bowling attack came out with Basit Raja and Saif Yaqoob.
Opening the day through some defensive batting, the French openers managed to earn some sluggish numbers as the bout took to the field. However, in an early blow, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/France-c2899 suffered its first loss with Murphy failing to retain his stumps, exiting the crease
after being bowled out by Yaqoob (13).
Murphy’s place was then taken over by one down batsman William Smati. The new pair managed to add a few more runs to total, but could not continue as Yaqoob went on earning Collin’s wicket as his second for the day.
Smati too offered his return a few more minutes into game adding 10 runs to his team’s total.
Following some quick losses, the French side came under fire as more trouble headed the team’s way. Failing to do much for the side, the middle order too crumbled down in a chain reaction after the Danish bowlers offered successive blows on the line up.
With the arrival of the 34th over, Denmark’s bowler, Ihyas Sawmy managed to secure France’s 10th and final wicket bringing an end to the batting side’s innings. The disappointed French winded their session with just 74 runs, offering
an easy target for the Danish batsmen.
Taking on a comfortable chase, batsmen Anders Bulow and Kamran Mahmood stepped on the pitch to face the troubled French bowlers.
However, the team suffered an early loss with Bulow making his return after the pair managed to score 29 runs. The player’s wicket was owned by youngster Zika Ali, who earned the stumps through a clean bowled dismissal.
Bulow’s return came after scoring 10 runs for his side, primarily coming through two impressive boundaries.
Following the opening loss, Mahmood was then joined in by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hamid-Ali-Mazhar-Shah-c61330. The new duo took on some productive batting covering up almost half of the chase. However, the batsmen were finally parted through another jolt offered by Ali. The loss came by the time
Denmark crossed its 50 runs mark as Shah (8) made his exit.
More trouble came for the batting side after the skipper, Thorsted, too made a quick return to the pavilion with just a single in hand.
With the job now left in Mahmood’s hands, the player, alongside Basit Raja, rescued the side covering up the remaining chase in the 10th over of the day, earning a swift, 7 wickets win over the opponent.
