European Under-19 Championship Division Two 2011: http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Germany-c2904 – Match Recap
Game 3 for the day came to close with the German Under-19 (U19) side suffering a disappointing 173 runs loss against the Isle of Man U19 team. The Group ‘A’ fixture, from the ongoing European Under-19 Championship Division Two One Day International (ODI)
match took off at the Cronkbourne Sports and Social Club Ground, Tromode, on Friday, July 29, 2011.
The match began with Isle of Man winning the toss and opting to bat first; a decision proved to be quite productive for the skipper Daniel Hawke.
Offering an impressive start to the session, the team’s openers, Jack Rowlands and Alex Stokoe, managed to earn some quick runs for the side, leading the team into the 50 runs mark following which the side lost Stokoe (20) after a successive Leg before Wicket
(LBW) appeal off German bowler, Leonard Gerhards’ delivery.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clairmonte-Christopher-Lewis-c51079 Wagstaffe came in as the third player on the roster aiding Rowlands with some additional decent numbers on the total. However, Rowland, too, was declared out after being caught out off Steven Richards’ delivery.
Isle of Man’s second wicket came after earning the mark of 84 runs. Despite the loss, the players went on to maintain a steady run rate throughout the session.
Following Rowlands’ return, the team lost another two wickets including Adam McAuley (3) and Wagstaffe (29).
After adding 10 runs to his team’s total, skipper Hawke was the next player to make his return after being caught and bowled by Richards.
The procession continued with three more wickets, leading the batting side into wrapping up their session at a fair total of 215 runs with a loss of 8 wickets.
Taking on the chase, the German batting session came out with a troubling start as three swift wickets came for the team. With just 5 runs earned on the scoreboard, the side lost opener Gerhards, one down batsman Krishna Cholleti and fourth player in line,
Mansor Mubarik.
The damage came from the Isle of Man captain, Hawke, who managed to earn the stumps of the falling German batsmen; all being bowled out.
However, the bowling side did not stop there. In another early blow to the batting side, Hawke offered another jolt to the German batting line-up forcing skipper Richards into making his return to the pavilion.
With four successive wickets gone, the much troubled German batting line up stood at a disappointing total of 19 runs.
Opener Ibrahim Awan came as the next victim, whose sluggish innings were brought to an end by Stokoe.
Following Awan, with just minor margins, the remaining German roster crumbled till the final wicket in the 24h over. Falling short of the chase with a massive 173 runs gap, the Germans were finally defeated.
