European Under-19 Championship Division Two 2011: Tournament Recap
The European Under-19 Championship Division Two finally came to its closure after Denmark Under-19 (U19) finally marked the eventual triumph at the International Cricket Council (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625) administered competition after offering a notable 60 runs defeat to Isle
of Man U19 side. The match came as the tournament final, kicking off at the King William’s College on Tuesday, August 2, 2011.
Initially, the competition began on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at the Castletown arena featuring ten U19 teams, from all over the European region. Broken down into two rosters, Group A came out with Isle of Man, Italy, Spain, Gibraltar, and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Germany-c2904. On the
other hand, Group B was made up of Denmark, France, Israel, Belgium and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Norway-c2974.
The 7-Day regional cricketing event took off with the series opener on July 27, as the tournament champions, the young Danish team, took on the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Belgium-c2850 U19 side at the King William's College No 2 Ground, Castletown.
The day went on with 3 more group A and B matches with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/France-c2899, Italy and Spain, securing wins in their respective games.
The manner continued on the following day with 4 group matches, resulting in Denmark, Isle of Man, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Italy-c2926 and Belgium standing out as the winners for the day.
Following another day of play on the 29th, the teams were brought to rest on the 30th after which the event went on with 4 games apiece on July 31st and August 1.
The final day eventually came out with position deciders including the final bout between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Isle-of-Man-c41000. With the final wrap up to the competition, Denmark U19 secured the tournament title, followed by Isle of Man and France U19 securing the second
and third spots on the competition respectively.
As for the top performers of the championship, on the batting list, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Israel-c2925’s Josh Evans secures the top spot with the highest score of 214 runs. The batsman managed to come up with the aggregate after representing his team in 5 matches. Evans’ best performance
came with a modest 65 runs.
Denmark’s Kamran Mahmood comes on the second spot with a total of 198 runs. With an aggressive strike rate of 117.85, Mahmood participated in a total of 5 games which included his best performance of 92 runs.
As for Italy’s Roshan Abeywickrama, the player comes in third with 175 runs which primarily came from his highest performance of 156 runs.
Coming to the highest wicket takers; the bowlers’ roster kicks off with Norwegian pacer Mosawar Ahmad, earning 13 wickets from a total of 5 games. As part of his star performance, the player earned an impressive number of 7 for 27.
