Denmark youth squad marked its first win at the European Under-19 Championship Division Two One Day International (ODI) series on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at the King William's College No 2 Ground, Castletown. Thanks to its impressive bowling line-up, Denmark
earned its triumph over team http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Belgium-c2850 who were forced into falling short of chase with 168 runs after losing all players.
The bout took to the field after the Belgium skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sebastian-Shukla-c89131 won the toss and regrettably chose to field.
Forced into batting first, the Danish opening duo came out with Ihyas Sawmy and Anders Bulow as the opposing bowling attack, featuring W http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shafiq-c89281 and Faisal Khaliq took their run up mark.
The match came to an impressive opening with the batting pair producing some decent runs for the side, retaining their stumps till the 50 runs mark.
However, in a quick blow, Danish batting order lost two players by the time the side managed to earn 61 runs. The side lost two successive players including Sawmy (21) and Kamran Mahmood (0).
With two down player, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hamid-Ali-Mazhar-Shah-c61330 joining Bulow on the crease, the pair went on to attain an impressive partnership cruising through the procession and adding some impressive numbers on the scoreboard.
The partnership was finally brought to a close by the Belgium bowler Khaliq after securing Bulow’s wicket. The batsman delivered a notable performance through his adequate contribution of 78 runs off 110 balls.
Following the 3rd wicket, skipper Christian Peck-Thorsted (4) also made his return, failing to offer much to his side.
With the game now left at the disposal of the middle order, the players went on with the procession despite losing occasional stumps. By the time the 50th over came up, the eventual lower order finally wrapped up the innings, scoring a massive
total of 302 runs with a loss of 8 wickets.
With the Belgium team coming out with the batting response, the side kicked off with some sluggish runs but unlike Denmark, lost a quick wicket. Opening batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shaival-Metha-c89535 made his exit as the first wicket for the Danish bowlers.
However, more trouble came Belgium’s way after losing two successive wickets on the 55 runs mark with one down Shafiq and opener Fraser McRae making their return.
The manner continued for the batting side as more wickets fell bringing the toll to 6 by the time the team reached the 100 runs mark.
Team Denmark finally brought an end to Belgium’s misery after securing its 10th and last wicket in the 33rd over, as Belgium failed to cover up the remaining 168 runs chase.
