European Under-19 Championship Division Two – Group A – Isle of Man v Germany – 1st Innings Recap
The 10th fixture of the European U-19 Championship and 2nd of the day was played between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Isle-of-Man-c41000 and Germany at Cronkbourne Sports and Social Club Ground, Tromode on July 29, 2011.
The skipper of the ‘Isle of Man’ Daniel Hawke won the toss and elected to bat first. Jack Rowlands and Alex Stoke opened the inning for the team and had a fine start.
The opening partnership between the two yielded 52 runs for the team until Stokoe was given lbw out at a fine delivery by Leonard Gerhards. His individual contribution was 20 runs off 27 deliveries.
Carl Wagstaffe was the next man in and paired up well with the opener Rowlands. They added another 32 runs to the score-card but then Rowlands got caught out at the hands of Cholleti on Richards’ delivery. He scored 35 runs off 69 balls at a strike rate
of 50.72 runs. This dismissal left Isle of Man at a score of 84 runs after the fall of 2 wickets.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clairmonte-Christopher-Lewis-c51079 Wagstaffe was joined by Adam McAuley to take the innings further. McAuley started off well but remained unfortunate as could not play a long innings. He got lbw out at a good delivery by Germany’s bowler, Mansor Mubarik.
The team had performed fine so far but was unable to establish a long and scoring partnership. After the 3rd dismissal of McAuley, the skipper Daniel Hawke came out to face the German bowling attack.
This pair looked promising but Steven Richards of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Germany-c2904 struck again foe his team and returned Wagstaffe back to the pavilion. He was given lbw out on Richards’s delivery and played an innings of 29 runs off 49 deliveries at a strike rate of 59.18.
The team’s total stood at 106 runs after the dismissal of 4 wickets. The next man in was http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shaun-Kelly-c89846 after Wagstaffe departed but saw the fall of his captain after the addition of just 5 runs to the total.
Richards took a beautiful catch of the Isle of Man’s skipper at his own delivery and. Hawke left at the score of 10 runs off the 12 deliveries he faced, at a strike rate of 83.33.
Alasdair Slack replaced the captain and together with Kelly added 34 runs to the team’s. They were playing well together when the German bowler Oliver Filby sent Kelly back to the pavilion after contributing 13 runs of 38 deliveries. He was given lbw out
on Kelly’s delivery, which left Isle of Man at a total of 145 runs at the loss of 6 wickets.
The wicket-keeping batsman Adam Killey came out to bat after Kelly but Filby struck again for his team and dismissed this batsman after scoring just 6 runs.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Richard-Jackson-c85090 was the next man in to support Slack. However, Slack soon returned to the pavilion as he was caught out by Filby at Carter’s delivery.
A total of 8 wickets had fallen so far with the team being at a total of 164 runs.
Mathew Ansell came out to partner with Jackson and this partnership amazingly yielded most runs so far. Jackson bashed an innings of 28 runs off just 16 deliveries. He had an amazing strike rate of 175.00.
Jackson and Ansell remained not out and concluded the innings at a score of 215 runs at the loss of 8 wickets.
