European Union?

Was the European Union a Good Idea or Bad Idea. What are its benefits and what are its nagatives??

It has some short term benefits but in the long term, I'm scared to think.  National sovereignty and personal liberty are at stake.

well the Euro is beating the dollar right now, by alot.  so apparently its not that bad an idea.

It has both strong and weak points.  

Infrastructure such as converting to a like monetary unit and requiring minimum standards for power, water, and telecommunications, are all very strong arguments for it.

It also has weak points such as excessive social welfare and no death penalty, which both contribute to an inequitable population that no other species in the world is burdened with.

More money coming into their economy as long as more European countries join in? That seems like a good idea! Let's Anexx Canada!
