European Universities Games: Anastasia Chervyakova punishes Irem Nur Al in quarter-final battle
Anastasia Chervyakova of Russia showed a strong character on court when she grabbed her spot in Women’s Singles semi-final after punishing Turkey’s Irem Nur Al in quarter-final battle at the European Universities Games-Badminton Individual Tournament on Monday, July 16, in Spain.
The in-form Anastasia, who is second seeded in Women’s Singles draw, was one class above her rival in all aspects as she played in a complete commanding way throughout the contest and easily thrashed her opponent in a lopsided manner.
The second seeded Anastasia played at her best speed and did not let her opponent to find a good flow in the whole battle. She ended the winning run of Irem by overpowering her with a huge margin in just 23 minutes.
On contrary, Irem failed to stop the aggression of her higher ranked opponent and she also could not place her shots in gaps. She was lacking the finishing touch in her shots and lost to her opponent with a one-sided margin.
Anastasia started her run in opening set in a wonderful manner as she played with her maximum speed and remained in complete control of rallies.
The Russian lady was on a different level as she faced no trouble in taking a sensational lead over her rival until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Anastasia continued putting up amazing show of flawless badminton and raced away to clinch the opening game with a completely one-sided 21-7 score on the board.
In the second game, Irem tried to play at her maximum potential in the opening rallies but she was quite vulnerable to the powerful and accurate shots of her higher ranked opponent.
The second seeded Russian shuttler was in complete control and she established a comfortable gap until the break.
After the interval, Anastasia did not waste any time on court and also showed no mercy to her lower ranked Turkish opponent at any stage.
The higher ranked Russian easily claimed the second game with a huge difference of 21-10.
Anastasia won this lopsided battle in just 23 minutes with a stunning 21-7 and 21-10 margin on the score board.
