are there any archaeologist that specialize in ancient european civilizations other than greece and rome.What were some european civiliations before greece

  2. My specialty is the megalithic culture of Britain, Ireland & Brittany (in particular). Think Stonehenge & similar.

  3. There were some comparatively advanced civilizations in ancient Britain and "Gaul" that predate the Celts and Goths.  They are called the "Grooved Ware People" after a particular style of pottery they seemed very fond of making.

  4. Though they are not characterized as civilizations per se', there are over 100 European archeological dig-sites, ranging from 800,000+/- years ago, all the way up to the Greeks & the Romans (3,000 years ago)...

    These sites cover Homo antecessor, Homo heidelbergensis, Homo neanderthalensis, as well as Cro-Magnon (Archaic) and Modern man...
