  2. 1. Disease, bad organization, invasion from the Franks, and it was just too big!

    2. The most important thing is, that the captured persons could be actual citizens of Rome and could climb up the social ladder.

    5. The Romans were known for there trading (especially under Augustus). The Romans had built roads which were a luxury to the merchants coming in... but after Rome collapse no one looked after them until the twilight of Charlemagne's reign.
