Hi everyone, My husband is Lebanese and we are trying to plan an adventurous trip around Europe. My question is, what countries are easiest for him to get a tourist visa to? I know it will be easy for me with my American passport. Also, any suggestions where we should begin? We live in Beirut, Lebanon.

  1. As mentioned, obtaining a Schengen visa would be the obvious choice you are able to travel to multiple countries as long as you obtain this visa (without any restrictions on it)

To obtain a Schengen visa though - you should have an idea of your plan and then officially you should apply to the embassy of the country where you spend the majority of the time.  If this is not known, then it is to the embassy of the country where you will enter the Schengen zone

Make sure if you are planning to travel to countries outside of the Schengen zone (e.g. UK, Switzerland etc) and then come back into the zone, that you obtain a multi-entry visa and not just a single entry one

The Schengen visa is not equal to all EU countries (e.g. not to UK, Ireland, Bulgaria or Romania) but is also applicable to non-EU countries such as Norway & Iceland, so it is good to read up and check

Of course you will also need to apply seperately for a visa to the countries which are not part of the Schengen zone.

For more reading about which countries it applies to, and the visa itself, you can read up here as a starting point http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schengen_ar... .  Then you can check (as usually there is) on the website of the embassy for the country to which you will apply - they will give you more details of the requirements & procedures

  2. Plan your trip to the countries which are included in the Schengen (spelling may be wrong)... This way, with one VISA he can go to all those countries...

Schengen VISA covers almost (not totally) all the EU countries and he can get it by applying to any one of them...

Eventhough it is not a must, it is advised to get the Schengen VISA from the Embassy of the country that you will start your trip...

I am a Turk living in Romania, so i can be considered as a VISA expert ;)))
