Eva Birnerova shows the door to seventh seeded Evgeniya Rodina in 1stround – Tashkent Open 2011
The first upset of the second round of the Tashkent Open 2011 was when Eva Birnerova ousted seventh seeded Evgeniya Rodina. The players took up the gauntlet on hard courts of the Olympic School Tennis Courts, Czech Birnerova won
by jumping back from a set down at 6-7(4), 6-4, 6-1 in 2 hours and 22 minutes.
Serving for the first set was Birnerova as she made a solid attempt to get a quick start in the contest as she breaks Rodina’s serve and then hold her own to get an initial lead of 3-0. Although, it was a little late in the game
to make a comeback for Rodina, she eventually did and in a reversal of fate in the following three games she broke Birnerova to equalize the score at 3-3. During the seventh game Rodina again breaks Birnerova and goes on to winning on her serve to take a mini
lead. In the ninth game Birnerova holds and in the tenth breaks back to equalize the score at 5-5. The players then hold their own serves and the first set goes into a tie breaker.
During the first eight games the players won on their serves to equalize the score at 4-4, from there onwards Rodina made a sprint in the following three games and broke her opponent once to serve the tie breaker at 7-4.
After losing in the tie break Birnerova had planned to execute the remaining games without going into tie break. Opening the second set was Birnerova, who not only held her serve in the first game but went on to breaking Rodina
in the second game to take a mini lead of 2-0. Rodina was not going to give up that easily and got into the action by breaking back in the following game and by winning on her serve in the fourth game she balanced the score at 2-2.  Rodina again broke Birnerova
in the fifth game and by the sixth game was two breaks up. In the seventh game Birnerova held her serve and in the eighth she broke Rodina to equalize the score at 4-4. Held her serve in the ninth game and with her heart thumping in her mouth she broke her
opponent for the last time in the tenth game and won the second set.
By the end of the second set the players had clogged a set apiece and were now looking to seal their victory. Serving for the third set was again Birnerova who again took the lead in the first two games by breaking her opponent
once. The players broke each other back to back in the following two games at which the score board read as 3-1. During the remaining three games Birnerova broke her opponent once more to reel off a 6-1 victory.
Birnerova will now be facing Valeria Savinykh in the second round of the Tashkent Open 2011.
