Eva Kuprivec finds a good start in Women’s Singles first round at Slovenia International 2012
Slovenia’s Eva Kuprivec made her home fans happy as she found a good start in Women’s Singles first round where she toppled Austria’s Nathalie Ziesig at the FZ Forza Slovenia International 2012 in Slovenia, on Friday, May 11.
The local shuttler proved her elevated skills in front of her home crowd and overpowered her foreign rival in a thrilling battle that ended in 49 minutes.
The in-form Kuprivec got a morale boost with the support of her home fans and she registered victory over Nathalie in a sensational fashion in a thrilling rubber-set contest.
On the other hand, the Austrian lady played well in opening two games but could not maintain her elevated run in the final set and lost the contest in three games.
In the first set, both ladies played attacking badminton while remaining close on the score board until the one-minute interval in the game.
No one could set up a reasonable lead in the concluding half of opening set as both ladies played at the same speed.
Both shuttlers did not drop the pace of rallies and reached at 21-21 when Kuprivec showed her brilliance as she executed powerful shots in gaps and won the game with a tight score of 23-21.
In the second game, the tempo of rallies remained fast in opening half and both ladies remained close on the board until the interval.
After the break, the local shuttler lost her focus in the court and started to make mistakes which helped her opponent to set up a reasonable lead.
Kuprivec could not dominate the game in the ending points and lost it with a five-point deficit of 16-21.
In the final set, Kuprivec played with precision and took over the control from the opening points. She was impressive in her shots and earned a remarkable lead until the one-minute break.
After the interval, the local lady remained on track and continued her roller-coaster run and eventually secured the game with a stunning margin of 21-7.
Kuprivec won this Women’s Singles first round contest with an entertaining score of 23-21, 16-21 and 21-7.
