Eva Lee, Paula Lynn claim semi-final spot in 2013 Canadian International Challenge – Badminton news
Women’s Doubles experts Eva Lee and Paula Lynn Obanana continued their successful run in Ottawa Canadian International Challenge and ensured their presence in semi-final round on June 27, 2013.
The epic quarter-final tussle saw them competing Grace Gao-Michelle Li and this encounter remained in full swing for 50 minutes. Both teams challenged each other in local badminton arena of Ottawa and finished this match with final result of 21-16, 15-21
and 21-11.
The victorious duo locked the honour by winning the opening and ending sets whereas the Canadian shuttlers could serve the notice of their dominance only in the second set.
In the opening game, Eva and Paula showed superb coordination in the preliminary stage and gained an immediate advantage. They bagged many valuable points in a row and strengthened their grip.
Their unbeatable strategy helped them to register an impressive total of 11 before the interval. After the one-minute break, the American campaigners played with great precision and did not give the opposing shuttlers even a single chance to comeback.
Eva and Paula kept on moving forward at steady pace and left their competitors far behind with a concluding margin of 21-16.
However, they could not go with same flow in the following game and allowed the opposing team to bounce back in the contest.
The twosome of Grace and Michelle did not squander this opportunity and brought the contest to right balance. The Canadian shuttlers kick started their campaign with few productive rallies and then established a decent lead way before the mid-game break.
Latter part of the game was also dominated by Grace and Michelle as they claimed many valuable points in a row and placed a winning margin of 21-15 on the board.
With this 1-1 match score position, both pairs were subjected to a tough trial as they were just one step away either from a woeful exit or a semi-final round entry.
They matched each others’ skills in the establishing rallies but then Eva-Paula showed superior badminton skills and sealed a splendid victory. They wrapped this segment of the showdown with 21-11 total and marched into semi-finals of Canadian International
Challenge.
