Evacuating New Orleans in 1 hour- Hurricaine Gustav. What shall we bring?

My family and I are preparing to leave our city of New Orleans for the second time. This is a sensitive subject so please be kind. When Katrina struck we brought only the bare minimum of what was needed- and that wasn't enough. Please your ideas so we can be prepared.

important papers, clothes for three days, money, personal items

pets, pictures, jewelry, meds, address book with important contact info of doctors and where you get your refills and such, family who may have trouble getting out on their own.  honestly, during hurricane season, i would have these things in a tote (except the people and pet--lol)  and ready to go at anytime.  good luck to you and God Bless!

cell phone charger for cars ( you never know)

sandwiches

take all the electric stuff of value

As a gulf coast residence I feel you pain sweetheart. I would take any cherished photos, belongings that you can grab and you basics. You can always replace objects but thise that are linked to treasured memories can never be replaced. Make sure you bring your medications and refill information, all of your insurance documents on home, auto and medical, life etc. Your SS card and Passport, Id etc. Pack water and non perishable food in you auto incase you are stranded and bring a pillow, book and blankets for the trip. This will not be another Katrina, they are much better prepared this time around. Good luck and God Bless, Kimba

for all weathers,

sleeping bags, bedding etc.

food,

first aid kit,

valubles,

cameras video recorders (for insurance claims)

full tank of gas,

comfort foods to relieve stress

cleaning supplies

ear plugs

i recently visited america,

and i love it.
