  1. Sigh...

    f(x) = 2^2+6+5

    = 4 + 6 + 5

    = 15

  2. I think it is:

    - (-2)^2 - 3(-2) + 5

    then...

    (-4) - (-6) + 5

    then...

    2 + 5

    = 7

    The answer is 7.

  3. Well, let's see....

    I think PEMDAS applies here....

So you've got -2 raised to the second power, so that's 4. From that you subtract 3(-2) and that's -6, so you have 4-(-6) or 4+6 which is 10, then add 5, and you get 15.

  5. If you have to evaluate the function when x=-2 this means that you have to substitute x with -2 everywhere you see it in the function, and then calculate the result. In this case, we have:

    f( -2)= - (-2)^2 -3*(-2) +5= - 4 +6+5 = 7

Remember that a negative number squared gives a positive number, that is why we have (-4) in the beginning and not only 4.

Also, the product of two negative numbers gives a positive number, so -3*(-2) gives +6.

Hope I didn't explain it too thoroughly :)

  6. i believe the answer is 0, but im not sure. here is my work:

    f(-2)=-2^2-3(-2)+5

    f(-2)=4-9+5

    f(-2)=0

i think thats right, i hope its correct if its not sorry i tried. try to do it by your self, and then check over your work by looking at the other answers.

  7. the answer is 7

    -x^2 = first x^2 then minuse

  8. Just incase you need to know, this is not a linear function but just a function.

    Anyways,

    f(x) = -x^2 -3x + 5

    f(-2) = -(-2)^2 -3(-2) + 5

    = 7

The answer is 7, not 15. U don't do anything with the first negative sign.

    Answer:

    7
