Evan Pinion pockets Boys 1500m freestyle gold medal: Day six – 3rd World Junior Championships
Evan Pinion of United States pocketed the gold medal of Boys 1500m freestyle on the sixth day of the 3rd World Junior Championships, scheduled by the Federation Internationale De Natation (FINA) on Sunday, August 21, in Lima, Peru.
Pinion proved his dominance for the title of the event, by submitting a fastest time of 15 minutes and 11.03 seconds. His time was way under the previous championship mark of 15 minutes and 25.01 seconds, made by Krzysztof Pielowski of Poland in 2008. Nevertheless,
the gold winning effort of Pinion was 37.31 seconds above the world mark of 14 minutes and 34.14 seconds, set by Yang Sun of China at the 2011 World Championships in Shanghai.
The American was chased by Gregorio Paltrinieri of Italy, who remained 3.99 seconds away from the champion swimmer and reached the podium for the silver medal, with a timing of 15 minutes and 15.02 seconds. The third spot in the respective meet was secured
by Gabriele Detti of Italy, who occupied the podium for the bronze medal, with a timing of 15 minutes and 18.46 seconds.
In the meantime, Matthew Levings of Australia surfaced as the fourth finest swimmer of the event, as he stayed 7.38 seconds away from his former swimmer and posted a time of 15 minutes and 25.84 seconds. Levings managed a lead of almost four seconds over
his closest competitor, Alec Page of Canada, who posted a fifth fastest time of 15 minutes and 29.09 seconds.
Meanwhile, Page’s team-member, William Brothers claimed sixth best spot of the event, by concluding his swim in a time of 15 minutes and 31.26 seconds. He was followed by Miguel A Rozas Lopez of Spain, who earned seventh rank of the event, by clocking a
time of 15 minutes and 32.05 seconds. Xiang Li of China settled as the eighth fastest spot of the event, by producing a time of 15 minutes and 32.15 seconds.
In addition, the session concluded after the completion of all events, while the arena enjoyed the tremendous swims of all participants.
