Evan Pinion secures Men’s 1500m freestyle title – 2011 FINA World Junior Championships: Day six
Day six of the 2011 FINA World Junior Championships saw an impressive swim of Evan Pinion in Lima, Peru, on Sunday, August 21. The session of the meet conducted the Men’s 1500m and Women’s 50m freestyle finals.
In the Women’s 1500m freestyle final meet, Evan Pinion of United States captured the gold medal with a winning time of 15 minutes and 11.03 seconds. Italy’s Gregorio Paltrinieri took home the silver medal on the podium by posting a stunning time of 15 minutes
and 15.02 seconds and Gabriele Detti of Italy earned bronze medal in the platform by submitting an impressive time of 15 minutes and 18.46 seconds.
In the corresponding race, Matthew Levings of Australia earned fourth place honours in a time of 15 minutes and 25.84 seconds and Alec Page of Canada was placed fifth in a time of 15 minutes and 29.09 seconds. William Brothers of Canada wound up sixth in
a time of 15 minutes and 31.26 seconds, while Lopez Rozas of Spain earned seventh place honours with a mark of 15 minutes and 32.05 seconds.
Xiang Li of China was placed eighth in a time of 15 minutes and 32.15 seconds. Filip Zaborowski of Poland settled ninth with a time of 15 minutes and 35.04 seconds, whereas, Danny Thomson of United States was placed tenth in a time of 15 minutes and 39.17
seconds.
Meanwhile, the Women’s 50m freestyle title was taken over by Bronte Campbell of Australia with a winning mark of 25.22 seconds and Lia Neal of United States earned silver medal on the podium by posting a stunning time of 25.30 seconds. In the corresponding
race, Landeghem Van of Canada picked bronze in a time of 25.35 seconds. Kristen Vredeveld of United States of America was placed fourth in a time of 25.61 seconds, while Nadiya Koba of Ukraine earned fifth place honours in a time of 25.80 seconds.
Beryl Gastaldello of France picked sixth position with a time of 25.93 seconds. Carolina Bergamaschi of Brazil earned seventh spot in a time of 26.22 seconds, while Mao Kawakami of Japan finished eighth in the respective meet with a time of 26.23 seconds.
The arena gave a standing ovation to all contestants of the meet owing to their impressive swims, while the winners were awarded medals and accolades after the session’s completion.
