Evan Turner at the double as Philadelphia 76ers beat Milwaukee Bucks 90 – 85 – NBA Recap
Philadelphia 76ers came out on top 90 – 85 in their encounter against the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday. The Bucks had nothing to play for at the Bradley Center and put out a weakened team, missing many key players. The reserves ultimately proved unable to
grab victory at home.
Philadelphia coach Doug Collins also didn’t have anything hanging on the game and admitted afterwards that it is hard to motivate players for such matched.
"They're terribly hard (to coach) and they're terribly hard to play. They're just hard to play. From our standpoint, we got in the playoffs. But what I like about it is we're finishing up our schedule with nine of our last 11 on the road, and we've won four
straight road games."
On the bright side, Evan Turner got a lot of playing time for the Sixers and responded with a terrific performance, scoring game high 29 points, grabbing game high 13 rebounds and dishing out 6 assists. His all round display was a key factor in Philadelphia’s
victory.
Jodie Meeks was the only other 76ers player to get into double figures; he scored 27 points.
For the Bucks, Brandon Jennings was pivotal with his 19 points and 6 assists. Tobias Harris notched up a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds while 2 of the bench players made it into double digits.
The first quarter provided some hints as to how the game would progress. The score was close, and neither side looked interested to try and take the game by the scruff of the neck. It ended with the Bucks up 29 – 24.
Milwaukee started the second frame with a 10 – 2 run that took their lead into double digits, 39 – 26. The Philadelphia 76ers then did well for the rest of the quarter, and by the end had cut down the deficit to 50 – 45.
The momentum shifted after the interval and the Sixers slowly ate away Milwaukee’s lead, eventually going ahead themselves. A 6 – 0 burst after the halfway mark put them up 66 – 58, and they ended the 3rd frame up at 71 – 63.
Milwaukee never seriously threatened in the final 12 minutes, despite coming close on occasion. The game was played out to an end at 90 – 85.
