Evan Williams expecting stronger results from Court Minstrel
Trainer, Evan Williams, believes that the best has yet not been seen of his challenger, Court Minstrel, who is still quite new to the business and is learning with the passage of time.
He did not start the 2013 season on an ideal note, so there will be immense pressure on him during the remaining year. However, he has got the potential to match the best in the business and will cause some problems for his rivals at the highest level of
the sport.
The six-year-old gelding started off his career back in 2011 and took part in a couple of races back then. He displayed fine speed in his first ever outing and finished third overall. Due to this, he was rated as the outright favourite to succeed in his
very next event and he did not disappoint his fans.
Court Cave’s son won that race by a comfortable margin and went into the 2012 season with high hopes. He participated in quite a few competitions that year and did a very good job for his team.
Overall, he has participated in eight races, winning three of them whereas finished as a runner up once. In addition to that, he secured the third spot on a couple of times, which shows that he is a fierce challenger.
However, he struggled to deliver on a heavy ground in his most recent outing, which is a bit concerning for his team. Despite that, Williams is positive about his future and says that things will get better with time.
According to the seasoned trainer, “Make no mistake, he's a good horse and a very smart novice. I don't regret running him in the Tolworth against Melodic Rendezvous as it told me more about him than it would have if we'd run in a small novice.”
Despite having high hopes, he accepted that there is room for more improvement. He went onto say, “Ideally he could do with another run in novice company as he's still learning to settle; he's getting better and he's not the finished article yet.”
Court Minstrel has lined up for some big races in the coming months and there will be immense pressure on him to deliver against the best in the business.
