  1. I am going with Rocky. I can't see Evander withstanding the constant pressure and punches from everywhere to all parts of his body.

  2. It'd be a close call, but I'm going with Marciano.  Marciano had the heart of a warrior...unlike Tyson who would fold up when Holyfield fought back, Marciano would just rear back and hit him harder.

  3. Dollbaby's answe hit the nail, i could not add anything to that.

  4. The two ultimate warriors going to battle. Holyfield has a slight edge going into the championship rounds- both battered. Marciano is still fresh as a daisy though and pours it on and gets a TKO in round 13.

  5. As much as I respect the great Marciano this really is no contest. Not only would a primed Evander match Rocky's slugging intensity on the inside but Evander also had the ability to completely change styles in mid fight. If he wished to he could easily begin utilizing swift footwork and start boxing from the outside circling Rocky and getting angles. Then all of a sudden confuse Rocky again and go chest to chest and start slugging again! Also remember that Evander was a master counterpuncher. Mike Tyson said that he never saw a better counterpuncher. If you really want to know who would win between Rocky and Evander watch the Holyfield vs Foreman fight! The George of the 90's was basically if Rocky were much bigger and more of a skilled strategist with a thunderous jab! Evander in his prime like the Rock had one of the greatest chins ever! Anyone who went 32 rounds with Riddick Bowe 24 rounds with Lennox Lewis 12 rounds with George Foreman 14 rounds with Mike Tyson and 10 rounds with Merciless Ray Mercer is SIMPLY NOT going to fly apart when when he gets into a rumble with Rocky! Evander wins this in a sometimes exiting but nonetheless lopsided fight. Certainly no disrespect though to the great Brockton Blockbuster!

  6. ALL THINGS BEING CONSIDERED     ROCKY is the only answer.  Wishfull Thinking doesn't Count.

  7. I'll take Dollybaby's answer a step further; Evander would crush the vastly overrated Marciano very quickly.

For some Godforsaken reason people still cling to this fantasy that Marciano was a  great fighter. Rocky Marciano was a well managed club fighter who got into the sport at the right time and got out at the right time.

He was small, very crude, certainly had power, but was also a dirty fighter that benefited from several questionable decisions.

How do you compare such a limited athlete who made only six defenses against nobodys and has-beens to an Olympic medalist who dominated two divisions and won the heavyweight title four times, mostly against much bigger men?

Holyfield would out think and outfight the much slower Marciano en route to a brutal stoppage, much the same way he did to an immeasurably superior boxer/puncher, Mike Tyson.

  8. Marciano.  Rocky was a career heavyweight and never lost, Holyfield was a much lighter fighter when he started.

Marciano had much heavier fists, and was relentless.  not much of a contest.  Marciano by TKO in 5.

  9. Marciano win by KO in the 5th.

  10. lordy lordy,    do you really not know,

    the rock would whup Evander,

think Tyson in his prime against lenox lewis,  no contest

  11. Both of these men were gladiators in the ring.  Both possessed tremendous courage and heart and both always came to fight.  Marciano had more desire to win than any man that ever stepped in a ring and a relentless determination.  He had no fear at all and was always kept his composure.  He had tremendous stamina and power in both hands.  Holyfield has the better boxing skills here and more speed than Marciano but Marciano was deceptive and harder to hit cleanly than people realize as he would get real low in a crouch and then suddenly twist his body while throwing some of the hardest punches in ring history at his opponents.  Neither man would give an inch in this epic battle and it would be exciting as any fight you could ever imagine.  Holyfield would land the higher volume of punches especially early on but it would not discourage Rocky who would land the harder punches rattling Holyfield on a few occassions.  In round 10 of a great fight both men would be exchanging hard punches when suddenly Rocky lands his patented Suzy Q right hand sending Evander to the canvas.  Evander would get back to his feet barely before the 10 count but the referee would halt the contest and declare Marciano the winner by 10th round technical knockout in a great fight.

  12. This would be an excellent matchup - both guys were about the same size and similiar in utilizing pressure as a key weapon.

Holyfield has a big edge in speed and both with his hands and feet - he threw much better combinations as well.  Rocky would have a distinct edge in power.  Their ability to take a shot would be pretty close, Rocky was only knocked down a few times during his career, and Holyfield was able to hang with punchers like Foreman, Tyson and Lewis.

I see Holyfield trying to stick a game plan of bouncing in and out, imposing his speed and quickness advantage...but after he start landing shots, like he always did, he would go after it and just stand in and trade with Marciano.

I think Rocky would have the power to knock him out, and he carried his power throughout 15 rounds - I think it would be a short right hand (like the one Bowe KOd Holyfield with) in between one of the dozens of exchanges, that would catch Evander and he would not recover.

    Rocky by 11-12 round KO.

  13. Marciano win by KO
