Evans Blair excels in Women’s 200m freestyle heats – EnergyAustralia Swimming Championships
Evans Blair of City of Perth excelled in the qualification rounds of Women’s 200m freestyle on day three of the 2012 EnergyAustralia Swimming Championships at the South Australia Aquatic and Leisure Centre in Adelaide on Saturday, March 17.
The 20-year-old Evans stayed prominently ahead of his challengers and hit the finishing blockade for first position by completing his race in a time of 1 minute and 57.86 seconds. He stayed 1.38 seconds ahead of Kylie Palmer of Chandler, who proved her mettle
for the second best spot of the race and hit the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 59.24 seconds.
The 22-year-old Palmer was chased by Britta Elmslie of Nudgee Brothers, who stayed 0.17 seconds behind his former finisher and clocked an effort of 1 minute and 59.41 seconds.
In the meantime, Nick D’Arcy outshined his challengers and seized top spot of the Men’s 200m butterfly. The 24-year-old Australian expert showed no leniency to his competitors and submitted a time of 1 minute and 59.34 seconds for first position.
His effort was chased by Andrew McMillan of NZL, who transpired on the finishing wall with the timing of 1 minute and 59.51 seconds. The third position of the event was obtained by John Goo of KSPORTS, who was just 0.27 seconds slower from his former swimmer
and surfaced on the finishing end by touching the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 59.78 seconds.
Subsequently, Alicia Coutts of Redlands accomplished the top position of Women’s 400m Individual Medley (IM). The 24-year-old Coutts reached the finishing wall first with an effort of 2 minutes and 15.94 seconds.
Her impressive effort remained 0.49 seconds ahead of Taylor McKeown of Australian Crawl, who ended her sprint in a time of 2 minutes and 16.43 seconds for second best position. Emily Seebohm of Nudgee Brothers claimed third position of the event as she remained
0.07 seconds slower and hit the finishing end with the timing of 2 minutes and 16.50 seconds.
Furthermore, the session ended after the conclusion of all planned events while the championship will continue for five more days to complete all swims.
