Manchester United’s defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jonny-Evans-c19085 believes his side were lucky to come away with the three points against Fulham, while admitting that they could have easily conceded a penalty in the game.
The Red Devils took on Fulham in the Premier League last night, as they looked to capitalize on the situation, following Manchester City’s draw with Stoke City over the weekend.
Going into the game, United were well aware of the fact that they were going to face a tough fight from Fulham, who had been producing some rather impressive displays in recent weeks.
However, following a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wayne-Rooney-c36736 goal in the first half, United were able to hold onto their one goal to nil lead all the way till the ninetieth minute, as they took all three points from the game.
The win also saw the team go three points clear at the top of the Premier League table, with City now having to chase their local rivals, in order to stand any chances of winning the Premier League crown.
Evans, when talking about the match is quoted to have said: "It’s a great result for us but we were a bit disappointed with the performance. We’ve managed to grind out a 1-0 victory and it puts us top of the league again.”
"It would be nice to get more goals but looking back on the game we’re just delighted to get the three points after the performance we put in wasn’t up to our usual standard.”
The defender then went on to talk about the incident, which saw http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Danny-c10193 Murphy in the area. Evans feels that the decision could have gone either way, since the referee could have easily pointed to the spot.
However, the defender is glad that that he didn’t.
"Yeah you have a quick look to the referee. He’s waved it away but having seen it back again I think he could’ve given a penalty for it”
"Yeah, I suppose so [the win came with a touch of good fortune]."
It is now up to United to continue winning their upcoming games, in order to ensure their stay at the top of the Premier League table.
