  1. Absolutely.  Many (most) conservatives do.  Some are annoyed at their fellow conservatives for making the conservative movement look bad.

"Former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich challenged fellow conservatives to stop resisting scientific evidence of global warming"

"National Review (the most prestigious conservative magazine) published a cover story calling on conservatives to shake off denial and get into the climate policy debate"

"Pat Robertson (very conservative Christian leader) 'It is getting hotter and the ice caps are melting and there is a build up of carbon dioxide in the air.  We really need to do something on fossil fuels.”

"I believe there is now more than enough evidence of climate change to warrant an immediate and comprehensive - but considered - response. Anyone who disagrees is, in my view, still in denial."

Ford Motor Company CEO William Clay Ford, Jr.

"The science of global warming is clear. We know enough to act now. We must act now."

James Rogers, CEO of Charlotte-based Duke Energy.

  2. Actually i'm not convinced we are still warming

plenty of it here, but you have to actually read the reports. http://www.iceagenow.com

  3. Of course. The majority of people I know believe in GW. It has been warming up for hundreds of years. The only question has been how much of this warming is due to mans activity. The majority of people seem to believe CO2 emissions from human activities have a minimal effect on it.

  4. I am a skeptic and i don't think Global Warming is real.... I could go on with my theories but the qestion doesn't ask for that. Anyway i think 'Global Warming' caused by humans is fake, but hey, we're all entitled to our opinions.

  5. There's been a steady progression from "It isn't happening" to "It's happening, but it's natural", to "It's happening and it's a good thing."  You see them spread out across that continuum, but watch any individual and you'll see what I mean.  The other way its useful to me is that any of them who are honest and sincere will stick to one of these, at least within a single Internet session.  The people who are just trying to be jerks will use all three on different posts within the same session.

You have to understand LRG, how heavily censored the news is in the USA, and how much information is suppressed.  Most Americans don't own a shortwave radio and are clueless about world events.

The other factor is that in the 1960's America was 5th in education among developed countries, while today we have slipped to 26th among 29.  That's why when you go to one of these sites thinking you are going to discuss Global Warming you end up debating third grade science with the trenchcoat mafia.

When you wonder why so many seem to have an Al Gore fetish I would be willing to bet it's because most of them heard about AGW for the first time from his movie.

  6. global warming is over

  7. Of course its real - we are still heating up after coming out of the last ice age, but there's nothing we can do to stop it, as if a bit of pathetic recycling can counteract volcanoes, the cycle of nature and China. Tree-huggers need a slap

  8. Global climate is  a dynamic process, and as such, is always in a state of change, with or without man. Looking at the temperature history of the 20th century, roughly speaking the first third was warming, the second cooling and the third warming again.

Since 1998 we have had a decade of cooling or stable temperatures as is clearly shown in the graph in the following article.

    http://www.dailytech.com/Temperature+Mon...

These measurements have been made by the official organisations that monitor global temperature, not GW sceptics or oil industry people, So they cannot just be dismissed. They are also direct measurements from satellites, more reliable than a variety of proxy measurements which can be used to show just about anything. This has happened despite the continuing increase in carbon dioxide levels, and indicate that the role of CO2 in our atmosphere has been much exaggerated, it is a factor, but only one in many.

The only thing that worried me about not considering the anthropgenic global warming hypothesis to be correct, was being in agreement with the conservative right, I feel happier now that they have given it up

  9. No I don't.

  10. you mean there are people that dont believe the world is getting warmer?? ... hahaha...now that is funny..the ice caps ARE getting smaller..the mean temperatures ARE rising...lol how can they not believe it!!

  11. GW is real. AGW is unproven theory at best.

  12. From your article:

"The NIPCC goes on to contend: "We do not say anthropogenic greenhouse gases cannot produce some warming. Our conclusion is that the evidence shows they are not playing a significant role."

So if they do not play a significant role why spend all of the money to cut back on emissions?

  13. If GW is real where is the green house gas that is suppost to cause it.Go measure it is not there.

  14. And?

There aren't two sides to this argument, there are dozens of theories to explain a gradual warming trend in the Earth's climate (just like there are dozens of religions in the world).  The word "skeptic" is equivalent in religious terms to "non-christian".  "Non-christian" can encompass a wide range of belief systems, don't you think?

Edit:  Wow...3 thumbs down because I state 23 guys might not represent me and the millions of others who feel man-made global warming is mankind's hubris at best.  We are driven by planetary forces.  We do not steer them.

  15. Interesting

  16. I prefer the term 'Climate change', yes some areas of the world are warming, but others are getting colder.

Northern Europe will see annual temperatures start to match that of New York if the Gulf Stream decays due to polar ice melting and the subsequent dilution of sea water.

The annual temperatures have changed radically in my life but I don't believe I have ever seen laying snow in April in the UK.

    Edit,

sorry yes I should have added for the laying snow bit - 'On the south coast' and mostly over the last fifty years. This area hardly ever gets any snow anyway, let alone anything that lays.

Last decent winter there was 1963

  17. It's amazing to see the few skeptical 'scientists' paint themselves into a corner and then try to but.but.but... their way out, while at the same time continue to see the usual bunch of denialists all over the web rant on the same arguments regardless...

I mean, "Going Cranky" blindly cut'n pasting "global warming is over" into various topics. In case you didn't realise 'cranky', even your denialist mates and 'experts' don't agree with you on that.
