Its about the 2008 South Ossetia war against the russians and georgians if you dont know.

Even if Georgia has commited Genocide by trying to wipe out the ethnic minorties in South Ossetia, why does the USA still back up Georgia and condemn Russia?

If it because to preotect that large Oil pipeline that goes through Georgia and South Ossetia

OR

Is it because the USA have never allied with Russia (and possible never will).

The Russian claims that it is being surrounded by NATO countries - what do you think of that?

Im not some kind of war expert or anything - I just want to know who is the bigger liar so far on this war.

Some will say Russia and others would say Georgia.

  1. This show how the genocide started from russian media. These video were shown during Georgia's attack at night and I saw them in that time.

This is how the capital of S.Ossetia was ruined.

    http://www.vesti.ru/videos?vid=143205

1 DAY later after russian forces entered the S.Ossetia in response for the attack CNN showed the same video... but they talk about "russian attack"...

  2. Gas/oil pipeline that does not go through Russia...I hate to be so cynical, it depresses me how little governments actually care for any of their people.  We are expendable commodities, whether bombed out of meagre flats in Ossetia, or fighting in Helmand in Afghanistan for a cause no-one is sure what it is about anymore!

Saddam Hussein - tyrant that must be deposed! Robert Mugabe? Yet, what resources need protecting in Zimbabwe?

And the Russians are anymore or less protective of their sovereignty than GB or USA? They are not happy potentially being locked in by NATO allies or members, and these former Soviet states knew that Russia would not take that easily.

  3. James O, open your eyes and ears, before you write.

Russia moved in to protect the ossetians, mainly ethnic russians, from georgian barbarity. Georgia wants ossetia back, but it has been independant since 1991, The georgian president touht america would back his stupid adventure, but even the yanks are not that dumb.

The 'animal' should be tried for murder. Then shot, as were so many civilians.

  4. First off the USA and Soviet Union were allies at the end of World War II but to answer your question...

Orignially I had no idea what was going on and when I looked into it the USA is backing Georgia because they have been an ally of Georgia's post cold war.  Before the Georgia/Russia conflict heated up Georgia had 2000 troops in Iraq, the oil pipeline is a big factor and so is the United States desire of influence.  That is the only real reason the US is defending Georgia.  Look there was a good quote from my politics class last year about foreign policy, "Foreign policy is really domestic policy with its hat on."  Countries don't get involved in things that don't have benifit to them.  Even humanitarian work is often to create domestic jobs and revenue by creating and shipping x product off to y.  UN and western allies are just following suit

As for Russsia's part in it Putin (former KGB agent) is basically saying well since Sadam was hung for crimes he commited agianst his own people and the U.S after the fact reasoning was partly because of that Georgia killed the people in South Ossetia (who were trying to gain independance from Georgia) and those people were mostly Russian we feel a regieme change is justfied.  Looking at it in Russia's interests Georgia is right on their border and the U.S was sending them military support was a threat on their soverignty (its like the Cuban missle crisis) and since the U.S was arrogant enough to be doing that they now had a reasonable enough excuse to show them that Russia still is a large military power because unless the United States puts their army into Georgia and declares a former war with Russia (unlikely, military is stretched out enough in Iraq/Afganistan and in enough finicial trouble that the dollar would completly collapse if they started a war with that major a power) Georgia is going to get crushed like a bug.

So the basic answer is they are both liars and its pretty much a stupid turf war which is going to kill lots of innocent civillians and each country is lieing about their motive in it.

  5. Actually, I live in Germany, and when I read the articles that the American media were feeding the Americans I had to laugh:) They seem to be portraying Russia as the 'Bad Guys". Silly, as they leave out the most important facts about why it all is actually going down. The information is obviously subjective, meaning: one-sided, or even better: propaganda. The American government is responsible for the information you receive. Try to get the facts about what's going down outside the US.

1.The Russians are trying to maintain peace between Georgia and South Ossetia.

2.Abkhazia was the province or country that initiated the air strikes.

3.Georgian militia is responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocent South Ossetia civilians - mostly Russian.

  6. European countries mostly understand the real reason of this action.

    Read European news.

    Guardian, Times, EL Pais

  7. The U S has no right to condem Russia because it has done the same thing to other nations

  8. Well it is hard to understand why Americans will allow their so called allies to wage war on innocents yet condemn what don`t suit them???

  9. I fully agree with Thekevin. It's all a game of geo-politics. It is obvious that Russia wants to protect its interests in that region. Georgia's attack on Osetia is what the Russians had been waiting for to justify their military strikes on Georgia. It is the causus belli that triggered what the Russians had long planned. But of course, the Russians wouldn't admit that. So they're saying that their military action was a response to Georgia's attack on the Osetians.

The US is no different in this line of thinking. For a long time, the US had already pre-planned a military strike on Iran. In fact the Pentagon had admitted that such a plan exists and had been worked-out long ago. What the US is waiting for now is a causus belli (a mistake on the part of Iran) that would justify such a military strike to take place. When that opportunity presents itself, the US will surely strike with impunity. The US had already done exactly just that on Iraq. Remember the WMD allegations that formed the basis for the Iraq invasion?. The real motive to all of this is to serve US interests in the region.

So do not believe when the global powers say that the invasion of a country was necessary in order to save people's lives, to bring freedom and democracy to that country, to get rid of a brutal dictator, to hunt for WMD's, to prevent nuclear proliferation, etc. Those are all bullsh*t lies and alibis. The real reason is to serve the invader's interest (military strategic gains, economic gains, etc.). I tell you, more lives will be lost than saved in any war. That's all to it and nothing else.

  10. That's right, the only media you can believe is European media, not American or Russian media. Those media sources are biased while European media is fair and unbiased. Why? because it is European >.>....(puke).

  11. i will tell u what, i m not expert either, and im not into piliticz, but one thing i will tell ya - Georgia  is a little and developing country, it cant change the weather in politics, its Russia whos is powerful and whos word means a lot for the world politics, so if u read my post i thinku can make conclusions,

Russia tryes to gain the power he has lost after the soviet union

  12. The US has always hated russia.  They always try to make russia look bad with every decision they make.  georgia proposed a cease fire treaty and during the night moved a great armed force around the village.  They killed over a thousand unarmed civilians.

  13. Oh dear another one believing Russian propaganda , read your history before making comment on something you obviously no nothing.

  14. Show us proof of this "genocide", then maybe I'll change my mind.  Until then, it seems like Russia is simply taking advantage of the situation to meet their own ends.  Looks like retaliation for the failed NATO attempt by Georgia.  And we were reluctant allies during WW2, so you're wrong on that point.

  15. you take the russians word when they say genocide?

btw we have been allied with russia (I seem to remember reading about this huge war in the 1940's)

they have not been independent, they were autonomous, meaning still apart of the nation of Georgia.  How many nations have recognized their independence?  Do they have a seat at the UN?  What country are their athelets competing for in the Olympics?  My eyes are open, Russia has managed to go from Divine right rule to Communist dictatorship, to Facism, all at the expense of their people.  Let's build nuclear weapons instead of feeding our people, brilliant.  We should have solved that problem right after we finished kicking the German's azz in '45

  16. Degree in what? Shows you can go to university and learn nothing!

That Georgia had attacked S. Ossetia first - True.

That Georgia wants to be a satellite of the US - True

That Russia is pis*ed off with Saakashvili and wants to get rid of him - also true

That the US wants to wind up Russia - True

That Russia retaliated against Georgia aggression against S. Ossetia - True

That US troops are in Georgia helping the military - True

That Russia wants to control the oil pipeline - Doubtful

If they did, they are in the wrong places. They should be at the source at Caspian Sea end and not up in Abkhazia.
