  1. Global warming is NOT a myth, nor is global cooling.

Global warming is one-half of the climatic cycle of warming and cooling.

The earth's mean temperature cycles around the freezing point of water.

This is a completely natural phenomenon which has been going on since there has been water on this planet. It is driven by the sun.

Our planet is currently emerging from a 'mini ice age', so is

becoming warmer and may return to the point at which Greenland is again usable as farmland (as it has been in recorded history).

As the polar ice caps decrease, the amount of fresh water mixing with oceanic water will slow and perhaps stop the thermohaline cycle (the oceanic heat 'conveyor' which, among other things, keeps the U.S. east coast warm).

When this cycle slows/stops, the planet will cool again and begin to enter another ice age.

It's been happening for millions of years.

The worrisome and brutal predictions of drastic climate effects are based on computer models, NOT CLIMATE HISTORY.

As you probably know, computer models are not the most reliable of sources, especially when used to 'predict' chaotic systems such as weather.

    Global warming/cooling, AKA 'climate change':

    Humans did not cause it.

    Humans cannot stop it.

  2. Yes, but not just pollution. We need to cut back on our wasteful use of fossil fuels just to extend the time we will have some to use.

Even if CO2 is not a pollutant in moderate levels, we do need to cut back on the amount of it we try to force the oceans to  sequester, not because we do not want it sequestered, but because the ocean health is at risk.

The sollution is the same for preserving fossil fuels, reducing pollution, and giving our oceans a chance to recover... use less fossil fuel.

This happens to be the same solution proposed to slow, perhaps stop global warming. So there is no quandary. We do the same thing for a lot of different reasons.

  3. Now that you have stopped beating your dog,and the neighbors kid,do you think that it's a good idea to cut back on pollution?

The only MYTH about global warming is the one of it being a HOAX,being spread by people that also 'believe' in the MYTHS of religion!  Just look at the other posts ! They are using the 'god' thing to back up their non-scientific claims. Sad!

YES ,LETS GET RID OF THE USE OF FOSSIL FUELS! That'll slow down the harmful effects of AGW!

  4. only if we can cut back on Al Gore

  5. It's always been a good idea to cut back on pollution within reasonable means.  From little things like don't throw your cigarette butts out the window of your car (come on, don't be THAT lazy), to bigger things like amounts of smog in an area that would cause poor quality air that EVERYONE must breathe, and water pollution.

Basically, what I mean is, we can get 95% of the job done for a very reasonable amount of investment (money and time).  The problem that happens is when overzealous environmentalists think that we need to make companies spend ridiculous amounts of money to clean up every last bit.  Let's say they invested $1 million dollars to do 95% of the job, it may cost an extra $10 million to get up to 96%, and another $25 million to get up to 97%, another $150 million to get up 98%, etc...  At some point it becomes ridiculous, and we have to realize that God made this earth to be extremely tough and able to handle a lot and still keep going.  Most things we humans can do to it is going to be like adding a single handful of sand to a 20 mile beach.

  6. Cut back?  Of course it's a good idea. But even more, we have to cleanup the mess that's already been made.  I live in some of the most beautiful woodlands in the country, yet our streams are orange and dead.  We need to clean this mess up at the same time trying to not make anymore environmental messes.  I remember the first Earth Day, I did a project for it at my school.  I'm hoping that one day, one of you young, environmenta scientists (or any scientist) will find a cheap way to clean up these streams!  And stop the acid rain.  Much has been done, but much more NEEDS to be done.

  7. CO2 is technically not a pollutant unless O2 is as well.  It is rediculous to assert that though politicians certain do rediculous things.  We have been cutting back on pollution.  We have strict regulations on emissions of vapor, solids, and water.   Our environment has been cleaning up.  By We, I mean the US.  Third world countries, and China and India have become more polluted.  I think we should encourage the spread of our "clean" technology.  That would be more likely to work rather than suggeseting to the third world that they do without light bulbs, refrigerators, and air conditioning.   Harmful warming caused by humans is certainly a myth or at least can't be determined with our present level of knowledge and technology .

  8. of course it is... and everyone is more than willing....as long as it's someone elses pollution........

  9. Totally agree with cutting back on pollution.

    Reduce, reuse and recycle.

  10. Global warming isn't a myth and CO2 is not technically pollution.  CO2 is an important natural component of our atmosphere.  The problem is when there is too much CO2, causing an imbalance in the radiative forcing (which warms the planet).

  11. Just because a person doesn't believe the dogma of so-called "global warming" doesn't mean that they are for more pollution.  The two issues are not related.

The market place is demanding higher production for less energy and new resources to maintain higher profits.  And its working.

We are enjoying far more production while polluting less.  There is no reason why gvmt needs to dictate the terms.
