Even if Nick Diaz does not want title bout with Anderson Silva, the decision is awkward – UFC Special
Nick Diaz is serious in making a comeback to the Ultimate Fighting Championship roster, so much so that he has even shrugged off the proposal of fighting Anderson Silva for the title.
Cesar Gracie, Nick’s trainer, in a recent media interaction explained in detail as to why his man is so eager to enter the octagon against the number one middleweight in the world.
Diaz has spread throughout the UFC universe like a bolt after his brave and yet bit questionable announcement of taking back the retirement decision. The aspect that makes the decision interesting altogether is the fact that Nick in his very first bout wants
to take on none other than Anderson Silva, the man who owns the longest win streak, longest title reign and above all is the UFC middleweight champion.
The choice of opponent is bit awkward but this is what Nick is all about. With successful title reigns over almost all the other influential and recognised mixed martial art promotions, Diaz is considered as a natural brawler who has the tendency to always
take on tough opponents.
A look at his UFC debut alone is ample proof of the talent the American proud possesses. Despite having an illustrious career, Nick tarnished his resume by recently receiving a nine-month retroactive ban from Nevada State Athletic Commission on the usage
of banned substances.
Since then this is the first time that someone has heard something from the Nick camp. Cesar in an official statement declared that Nick has decided to make a comeback, adding that he wants to take on Anderson Silva as the first opponent.
Everyone was shocked to hear it. Later on, Cesar explained that why he thinks Nick’s demand is quite reasonable. Gracie commented that Nick is just like Silva he also wants to enter the octagon in big super fights, brawls that people wants to see.
Cesar stated, “Why Anderson? Because Anderson is a huge name. He's talking the talk that is kind of what we're talking about. He's talking about doing superfights. He's talking about the things that Nick's been talking about that Nick did when he was with Strikeforce that
Nick is into. That's why. And he's exciting and just a great fighter. He's talking about catchweights, he's talking about exciting fights that people want to see instead of being limited to fighting.”
Gracie’s above quoted comments show how much serious Nick camp is in making the Silva-Diaz clash a reality. However, unfortunately, this is not possible for the time being as there are various factors that quite understandably go against the proposal.
Although the clash if arranged and announced will be considered as an epic one still what if Nick loses in that bout? And what will he do then?
These are the two questions that UFC’s bout-makers might probably be thinking at the moment. Consider for example, Nick takes on Silva. The winner will definitely be Silva as Diaz does not have that diversity and above all experience to halt Silva’s progression.
The loss will make Nick’s second awakening at UFC a complete disaster and this is not what Joe Silva would like. However, there is another possibility. Nick makes a comeback against any other big name and nails it then moves forward to collide with another
one or two top-notch brawler, showing the world that he really deserves a title shot.
In this way, at least Nick will save his career for total annihilation. One thing is for sure, that no matter whatever Cesar says or proposes Nick-Silva clash cannot be arranged at all.
Therefore, Nick should first prove that he can be a lethal middleweight and then move on to threaten the kingpin’s reign.
