Even if Obama wins, will he really be the first Black president?

Out of all fairness, if a Republican were to get an all-black American candidate in the white house in 2012, wouldn't that be more historic than Obama - who is only half black and has no familial ties to American slavery?

  1. Yes, Obama will be the first Black president if elected.  The significance is about breaking through the color barrier, not about rising up from slavery.

Also, almost all African Americans that are descended from slaves have some white blood in them.

  2. When Obama applied to college I'm sure he checked Black. You don't have to be a descendant of slaves to be considered black

  3. No he will be the first bi-racial president. He is both black and white, not just black.

  4. I think you are splitting hairs.  You show Obamas pic to 100 people and ask is this man caucasion  what will they say?

His skin is dark enough to have put the fear of the black man into a lot of americans who have been scrambling to find acceptable reasons not to vote for him.  And some who even openly admit they would not vote for "a black person".

  5. this is ignorance.

don't you think obama endured just as much prejudices as "full" black americans growing up?

of course he will be the first black president.

  6. he is every bit white as he is black

  7. No he would not be a true black President. Excellent point that he has absolutely no ties to slavery.

If a true black man won the Presidency it would definitely be more historic.

DO NOT VOTE FOR OSAMA BIN LADEN (Obama/Biden)

  8. There is really no such thing as an all black or a half black person, and there are many African-Americans with no familial ties to slavery.
