Events which defined the 2010-2011 NBA season (Part-1)

The National Basketball Association is going through the most drastic and depressing situation at the moment, considering that the 2011-2012 season may be erased from the books. The thing that is even more disheartening is that
the current situation came on the back of one the most incredible and entertaining season in the history of the league which took the popularity of NBA sky high.
All the extraordinary and exciting events from the last season, which not only enhanced the significance of the game in the eyes of the fans, the fame of NBA also scored big on the world charts. However, it may go down to drain
just because the NBA owners and players association have failed to make a settlement on the new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
The regular season games through 15th December have already been cancelled and players disbanded the union to take the matter at the doors of the court. Owners and players still have some days left to bring the labour
dispute back on the negotiation table before the court takes the matter in their hand which will require enough time to resolve the dispute during which the entire season can be cancelled.
It is reported that representatives from both the parties are trying to sketch a road map and produce a proposal that can suit both sides. If there is a breakthrough, we might be able to witness some memorable events, just as we
did in the 2010-11 season.
Here are some storylines that defined the 2010-2011 season.
Carmelo Anthony joins New York Knicks
One of the biggest sagas of the last season which kept the basketball fans in a state of sheer excitement was the trade of the NBA All-Star Carmelo Anthony. The more New York Knicks wanted to see the dynamic small forward in their
uniform, the more time it took time to formulate a deal with Denver Nuggets.
The 27-year-old Carmelo Anthony was finally traded to the Knicks on 22nd February after weeks of speculations in a multiplayer deal involving Minnesota Timberwolves. Former Denver Nuggets point guard Chauncey Billups
also teamed up with Anthony to join Amare Stoudemire in the New York Knicks.
The impact of Carmelo Anthony’s arrival was that the team finally managed to clinch a play-off berth after failing to do so in the past six seasons. Although, Knicks didn’t had an impressive post-season as they were swept out by
the Boston Celtics in the first round, however, it was expected that the Knicks will strike back aggressively in the 2011-2012 season when the chemistry between Amare and Carmelo becomes stronger. The Knicks were waiting for the moment to see their superstars
carry the action dominantly but the lockout devastated all the excitement.
