Events which defined the 2010-2011 NBA season (Part-2)
Derrick Rose takes him game to the next level
Chicago Bulls superstar Derrick Rose earned the reputation of the best point guard in the league and no one saw it coming so early in his NBA career.
In the last season, the 23-year-old Rose not only improved his game statically in all aspects of the game, the sharp-shooter also guided his team on the top in the Eastern Conference almost singlehandedly. As a result, Chicago
Bulls raced away into the Eastern Conference finals where they were gunned down by the spirited Miami Heat due to lack of experience.
Derrick Rose’s drastic improvement in his performance have made Bulls believe that the young point guard will relive the legacy of Chicago Bulls which was once carried by the legendary basketball player Michael Jordan. Chicago
won six NBA title in Jordan’s dominating era and now Rose is expected to take the role of leading the team towards the championships.
Just at the time when the fans and the team members were hoping that Derrick Rose will guide Chicago Bulls to win their first title in the 2011-2012 season since the Michael Jordan Championship era, NBA lockout wiped out all the
excitement and anticipation as the work stoppage continues to show its drastic affects on the season.
LeBron James returns to Cleveland Cavaliers
The day coveted small forward LeBron James announced his decision to join Miami Heat in pursuit of his championship dream, his former Cleveland Cavaliers’ fans, who once considered him as the heartthrob of the city, started a hatred
campaign against the two-time MVP.
James spent seven seasons in Cleveland Cavaliers after he was drafted by the NBA franchise with the first overall pick during the 2003 NBA Draft. LeBron transformed the depleted Cavaliers into the best team of the Eastern Conference.
However due to lack of support from the team, James failed to furnish his resume with an NBA title which compelled the former Cavaliers small forward to jump into a bigger market. From there, the guy who set foot in NBA with the tag ‘King’ became one of the
most hated players in the league and he was booed in every arena especially by those who did not like him taking his talent to the South beach.
In 2nd December 2010, Miami Heat played against the Cleveland Cavalier. It was neither a play-off game nor it was a decisive game to qualify for the post-season. But still it was one the most interesting matchup of the
last season as James stepped in his former home arena since his departure from Cavaliers.
LeBron James was booed throughout the game every time he had the ball in his hands. However the rowdy crowd went quiet when James racked up 38 point and led Miami Heat to a blowout 118-90 win.
Dirk Nowitzki finally wins it all
For Dallas Mavericks veteran power forward Dirk Nowitzki, the 2010-2011 season has been the best when his eleven years of constant struggle and hard work finally paid off and he furnished his resume with an NBA title.
Since 2001, the 33-year-old Dirk guided his team into the play-offs every time. In the process the German sharp-shooter clinched a number of achievements however; he had to leave the post-season without winning it all every time
until the 2011play-offs. Dirk Nowitzki and company overpowered Miami Heat in the NBA Finals comprehensively and landed their first ever NBA title in the franchise history which was one of the most interesting event of the last season.
