There may be people who have been sucked up by one  but more often people have been in one.  This isn't semantics becase your house can be hit by one and you survive by taking cover.   If you are actually picked up by one, your chances of survival are near zero.

Probably when I was little, but not that I can remember. I've been through plenty hurricanes, though.
