  1. In grade school. I just remember hearing glass break and TONS of wind. TONS. We had the drills once a month though (in Indiana)

  2. Been through a couple of tornados, no chance of being in a blizzard, 'cause I'm in the deep south!  We're not even sure what snow looks like down here!  Hurricane sounds pretty rough tho; we only got the last remnants of Katrina where I live, and it was bad, so I hate to imagine what it's like to REALLY go thru one!

  3. Yes in Farmingdale,NY July 23,1995. It was pouring rain to a point where we couldn't see anything. I was in a car with my parents and we drove through it but we didn't know it yet and later that we heard that a confirmed tornado touched down on the road at the time we were driving on it. Here on Long Island, it's very hard to come in contact with a tornado because it's hard to see and hear them because they're usually produced by thunderstorms and they're short lived not too significant.

  4. No, thank God I live in California.  Tornadoes really scare me!  I often wonder how people in tornado country live there ... with tornadoes coming all the time.  I don't think I could live like that.  I'm happy for you that you didn't get that monster. They must be real nightmares!

  5. I live on tornado alley more tornados here than practically anywhere else i've had my home destroyed? twice and we just kept building our house again...and again.....tornados in a home are not bad but being in a car or mobile home is horrible!!! LOL

  6. Yes, many, many times, lol.  That's half the fun of living in the midwest.

Remember that scene in "Twister" where the tornado came while they were all at the drive-in?  I lived that when I was 5 years old.  Terrifying, especially for a child.

Since then, I've lived in a few places where tornadoes have touched down, even destroying half my town.  My friends were in their basement and when they finally came upstairs, they discovered their neighbor's house was gone.

We had several warnings a couple of weeks ago; I think I spent three nights in my mom's basement with my boyfriend, my dog, three German Shephards, my two neighbors, and a pug, lol.

  7. Yes. It was the second worst day of my life (1st was when I had my heart broken). It came within 200 yards of us and it really did sound like a freight train. However tafter the tornado came, it really brought out the best in our neighborhood. It was really comforting knowing that  people like that are just around the corner.

  8. I've been Through 1 i live right in the middle of Tornado Alley...It was May 4th and i live in a mobile home and that day my step dad had gotten home from chemotherapy. My mom woke us up and went down to our friends and said he was butt naked and it smelled bad so we were leaving and i turned around and right about that time 2 storms hit exactly the same time..and i was staring out the back of the car and i saw a huge freaking tornado pop outta nowhere i started telling my mom push it home. So we got to our house and we head for our pasture and our tenants at the time tell us to pull in and they live in my great grandmothers mobile home but we survived it and we had little damage on our mobile home 1 window broken a limb went through..that's it

  9. ya. i slept through it. and we get tornado warnings like once or twice a week. <3

  10. I've been through a tornado before.

There wasn't any sirens in the area at the time, but kind of figured something was going on when trash cans, aluminum siding, tree branches, and a lot of other debris was flying all over the place.

I was stationed in Guam in 1997/98 when typhoon Patka ripped through with 236 mile an hour winds.

To me that was scarier than a tornado.

Been through several earthquakes while living in San Diego.

Been through hurricane Hugo when it hit Florida.

  11. My family and I drove past a small one a few years back during a severe thunderstorm over the I93 corridor. It was pretty cool, although it was kind of frightening at the same time. Also been through blizzards, floods, an earthquake, lived near KÄ«lauea, been through the strongest hurricane to ever it the Hawaiian Islands (Iniki) and some of the stronger ones to hit the East Coast in recent years.
