  1. I could live 4 months on that amount of money.

  2. I've been to Thailand (4) times and planning to go for a 5th time in September/October. Yeah, $3K is good for about 3 weeks. You'll have plenty of money for eating-out, shopping, going to the movies, sightseeing, etc. However, you will burn through the money much faster in Bangkok or a beach resort area than if you stay somewhere in the countryside.

If you are looking for Thai countryside, I'd recommend you head north of Bangkok. The Isaan region is beautiful.

  3. The exchange rate doesn't necessarily tell you how far the dollar will stretch. To know that you have to look at how much things cost.

    Here's some examples;

A cheap hotel will cost between 600-1,000 baht.

A meal at a cheap restaurant will cost 100-200 baht.

A meal off of a food cart (bowel of rice and some meat) in the street can cost as a little as 25 baht.

A beer at a bar, about 80-100 baht.

    A beer at 7/11 30-50 baht.

A taxi ride across town - 80 baht.

A knock off brand back pack at a night market - 500-700 baht.

Legit massage (no s*x) one hour - 200 baht

As you can see things in Thailand are pretty cheap. $3,000 USD will me more than enough.

    Good luck, have fun.

  4. Yep - that is enough - nice people - Have a good time.

  5. Guess you'll have a nice time with this kind of spending money.

If you like sports it's also great for golf/diving/snorkeling etc., cultural excursions and of course relax at one of the beautyful beaches. Have a great time!

  6. When I go, I always travel around Thailand cheap.

I put a pack on my back and go everywhere.

For my accommodation, brekky, evening meal, and a hire motorbike, plus a couple of beers, I allow about $30 to $40 Australian.

Multiply that by 20 days = $600 to $800 and with that I have a great time, so you should have a ball.

You could go up north and see some culture and go water rafting or quad biking or visit the shooting range.

Head down south for some great beach activities and island hopping.

Dont forget to sample the delicious seafood.

And have respect for the Thai culture and the beautiful people.

You will loose yourself in their smiles.

    Enjoy your trip.

  7. i went to Thailand two years ago. it was a blast! $3000 should be enough because the current exchange rate is 33:1. you can get a coke for like 10 bot its amazing.

some things to do when youre down there are go to see some of the elephant shows. theyre cool. all the elephants play soccer and stuff lol. also riding an elephant was quite an experience. you cant do that in many other places. but beware of the tours. they might be good tours but every single one will end at some jewelery store and thats where you drop it off. resist buying all the shiny diamonds!

    have fun

  8. That will be enough spending money.

There are lots of things to do and see.

Temples, palaces, the king's house, tiger, crocodiles.

Things to buy are cheap and you can bargain for a better price.
