  1. Madeira is Portuguese although it is located in the Atlantic, off the coast of North Africa.

It has a sub-tropical climate with all the year round growth of flowers, fruit and vegetables. It is a beautiful place  with a mountainous interior.  There are no beaches but plenty of places to swim and all hotels have a swimming pool.  There is little or no industry except wine making and banana exporting. Funchal, the capital of Madeira has a very high standard of hotels and is also virtually crime free.

If you were considering going in the U.K. winter, then Madeira would be the first option as the Azores tends to be much colder as they are further north.

The Azores are a collection of volcanic islands and do not have the facilities of Madeira but in summer they are great.

  2. It's Madeira and not Mederia :D

    I agree with Brian C.

Madeira can be a place to relax as well a place to have fun and enjoy the madeira-nightlife!
