  1. Yes I have! My twin girls were both born naturally and it hurt, but afterwards, when they were placed on my chest, I felt the most amazing feeling of love for them. So many mixed emotions just took the pain instantly away!

I don't think I could love anyone more than my children.

I wanted a water birth too, but we didn't plan anything and because they were 3 weeks premmie, I had no other option but to rush to the hospital and push push push!

Now I am expecting another baby in January and hope to experience a water birth!

    Good luck!

and don't be scared of a natural birth. It is the most rewarding thing you will ever do!

  2. Twice, no meds. Water birth sounds like a lot of fuss plus how many primitive tribes jumped in the river to give birth, I wonder.

  3. I've had seven natural drug free births myself, and as a lay-midwife have  helped birth at least 40 babies.

I was not an advocate of water births until recently---it seemed unnatural to me, we not being aquatics. But several of 'my' mommas wanted them--- and they were wonderfully relaxed and had beautiful birthing experiences. More of the Moms just wanted to labor for a while in the tub, as it seemed to soothe them, but then actually birth the baby out of water. Either way... whatever is good for YOU is what should be done.

There is no real problem with the baby being born under water as it is still receiving its oxygen from the placenta. They usually take that first gasping breath as a reaction to being 'out', and other than the horrendous cramping and squeezing being suddenly relieved, they don't really feel "out" when they are in the warm water.

Ricky Lake made an excellent documentary called "The Business of Being Born" which I recently watched with my newly pregnant daughter-in-law. We both loved it and I highly recommend it. While it shows a lot of the problems with hospital births in this country, it also shows some lovely natural births--- including a couple of water births.

Those who have had them swear its the only way to go..especially women who've had non-water births to compare them with.

Get a good midwife-- read everything you can-- attend some childbirth classes--- and REMEMBER-- there's like 2 billion people in this world who have gotten here the same way--- You CAN do this! Yes, it hurts... but there is triumph and empowerment in dealing with the pain and experiencing this sacred (yes, sacred!) passage.

    All the best to you!

  4. all natural isnt that bad.. ii had no choice to do it without meds i dilated to quickly... but im glad that i didnt i got to feel everything although it did hurt like h**l...

water births i dont think are bad its a good alternative cuz it helps you relax and relieve the pressure when baby is descending... and i think its also a lil bit easier to push in the water..

whatever you choose good luck and congrats

    girls are so much fun.

  5. I had an all natural birth. Trust me, it's NOT as bad as everyone says. I mean, of course it hurts but if you just keep yourself focused and determined and you'll be fine. Think about how you're getting ready to meet your sweet, beautiful baby girl.

I've heard that water births are more relaxing, I would try it! It's all about YOU and what you're comfortable with. :) I wasn't planning on having a natural birth, but by the time I got to the hospital I was 9cms dilated and didn't have time for any medications. Now I'm glad I didn't have any and honestly, I'm thinking about doing it all natural next time around. :)

Good luck and congrats and your baby girl!

  6. Both my girls were a natural birth, no meds with 1st (she's 5 now) and only gas with 2nd (she's 3 now), and don't be fearful of all the stories out there about how bad the pain is etc, yes it is very painful but I can't see how being in water will change any of that except be more of a comfort thing during contractions or something (no idea though ok so don't take my word on that one, I wish I was game enough to try one but I couldn't do a water birth, I can't stand the thought of my baby being underwater and what would happen if there was trouble getting the shoulders out or something like that, no way too many risks for my liking, but each to their own, if you do the research and have a midwife etc on hand who has experience with water births it should be alright. You should have the birth experience you want. Good Luck
