We went out that morning on a light breakfast so by 2:30pm

we were ready to eat and having had a bright sunny

great day out at the san jose flea market haing walked in the sun sampleing some and shoppig our way through all the stuff

there in the best outdorr bizzarre ever in the bay we stopped into a resturant on the upscale side but a very old place got

a glance of the place was almost empty cept for one couple

in the front dining area and one in the back garden rooom

off the banquet rooms The hostes took our names and pointed to the lounge bar where they steared us for over a hour wait for a table I went back to check on being seated we were ready toeat a hour ago when we came in they said another few minutes a half hour then rolled by and still no table and no food.

We had been there many times and where in tennis atire

like both in white shorts and shirts and looked better than

most in tennis gear having sat there for two drinks we were feeling the alcohol so we wanted to

  1. It happens more often then you'd think.  I can think of several instances.  After being seated, we were told the place was closing down for the night.  Another, they gave our order to the wrong people and had to start over for another 45 minute wait.  On and on it goes.

  2. Never happened to me before.  My hunch is that they didn't like your attire for the main dining room if it was an upscale restaurant.

But even so, they should have just refused you service at the door or said something like since you are dressed like that you can only eat at the bar.  Hearing that up front would be better than having your time waisted.

I'd write a letter to the restaurant and complain vehemently.  Maybe you'll get something free out of it.

  3. Are you sure they were still serving lunch at that time of day?  Most upscale restaurant have a time between lunch and dinner when they are closed for service from the menu.  They tend to reopen at 5:00 or later for dinner service.  Did you happen to go after the lunch service, thus were sent to the bar??
