Ever given a poor soul the wrong directions?

I just did, and I feel really bad. They stopped me unexpectedly, but I knew exactly where they needed to go . While I was pointing the direction I blanked and forgot right from left, so I stood there for a while with my hand pointed in a direction and my mouth open. Then I told them left and then go straight which goes to a dead end. I knew they'd be coming back around, so I ran home.

That sounds really embarassing, I would have just appoligized and said I was out of it that day, but then if I really think about it I probably would have done the same as you.

Don't feel so bad.  I am always confusing left and right and am always saying good morning to people when it is afternoon.  I work in retail on an unpredictable schedule and I hardly know what day or what time of day it is sometimes.  I am pretty good about giving directions in the store now but it took a while.

If they got lost, they probably won't be able to find their way back to you, so you are safe.  God knows some cities are absolutely horrible to find your way around in.  Glasgow and Boston come to mind.  You better take a compass and a good map if you don't want to be lost forever.

Oh I hate that! Yes I did that once, I made this couple  turn around and drive 5 minutes out the way, when all they need to do was go down the hill and turn right and the first intersection. But for some reason the only way I could think of was that long out of the way, way. I felt really bad too.

That happened to me as well. I forget street names all the time.

At my job once when a customer needed directions. I told them the wrong street accidentally and prayed I'd never see them again lol. Don't feel to bad at least you were nice enough to help some people don't even bother to do that.

I almost did that once, same situation my mind was all foggy, but I managed to get a hold of it and said "oh wait up, sorry just went blank for a minute, its that way"

Been on both sides. But I would have waited to see if they came back, apologize and tell them the right directions.

I've done it accidentally, but it's a great idea for a bit of fun. The next time a clueless tourist asks me how to get to a local beauty spot, I'll send them off to the sleaziest part of town. It'd be interesting to follow them and see what happens.
