  1. No but I got on a train that was not supposed to stop at the station. The guard said " This train doesn't stop here" I said "Well in that case I'm not on it"

  2. Oh! Mr Porter

    Marie Lloyd

Lately I just spent a week with my old Aunt Brown,

Came up to see wond'rous sights of famous London Town.

Just a week I had of it, all round the place we'd roam

Wasn't I sorry on the day I had to go back home?

Worried about with packing, I arrived late at the station,

Dropped my hatbox in the mud, the things all fell about,

Got my ticket, said 'good - bye' "Right away." the guard did cry,

But I found the train was wrong and shouted out:

    CHORUS

The porter would not stop the train, But I laughed and said "You must

Keep your hair on, Mary Ann, and mind that you don't bust'."

Some old gentleman inside declared that it was hard,

Said "Look out of the window, Miss, and try and call the guard."

Didn't I, too, with all my might I nearly balanced over,

But my old friend grasp'd my leg, and pulled me back again,

Nearly fainting with the fright, I sank into his arms a sight,

Went into hysterics but I cried in vain:

    CHORUS

On his clean old shirt-front then I laid my trembling head,

"Do take it easy, rest awhile" the dear old chappie said.

If you make a fuss of me and on me do not frown,

You shall have my mansion, dear, away in London Town.

Wouldn't you think me silly if I said I could not like him?

    Really he seemed a nice old boy, so I replied this way;

I will be your own for life, Your imay doodle um little wife,

If you'll never tease me any more I say.

    CHORUS

Oh! Mr. Porter, what shall I do?

I want to go to Birmingham

And they're taking me on to Crewe,

Send me back to London as quickly as you can,

Oh! Mr. Porter, what a silly girl I am!

  3. Went to Birmingham to see Sheffield Wednesday, had a few drinks as you do and fell asleep on the toilet on the way back, woke up in york, had to get the national express down at 2 in the morning.

I still get reminded of it.

  4. Oh Yeah... back in 2000 when I'd moved back up to the San Francisco Bay Area after 15 years in the Navy.  I commuted on CalTrain each day from Mountain View to San Carlos (6 stops and about 20 miles).

We'd had to work LATE one night, getting out about 9pm.  I jogged to the local pup for 4 quick beers, and caught the last train home to Mountain View at about 11pm..

Sadly, I nodded off because of the beers and woke as the train pulled into SANTA CLARA... 6 stops and 30 miles PAST mine !!  There were no more Northbound trains that night !!  I walked two blocks, got a hotel-room, and then took the train back into work the next morning.

The BEST part of this... I did the SAME thing almost a month later !!  I decided to stay in the hotel again, because a taxi-ride would have cost MORE !!

  5. No, I'm glad it never happened.

  6. ohh god yes, funny you should ask

Several years ago I got off at Roma instead of Roma Termini, and the platform was very crowded and I got pickpocketed.

My wallet was in a velcro front pocket of my shorts and I dint even feel it.

My pass was good and luckily it was in a different pocket, I got back on the next train, and made it to the correct place but now I dont have any money for bus fare to the hotel or my phone card to call anyone.

It was a long day LOL.

Rome has some of the best pickpockets in the world I later found out after several members of the group were hit.

Gypsies carrying babies are a great ploy, a woman will have a baby under a blanket, apparently sleeping but it is a rubber baby and the ladies arms in long sleeves are also fake leaving the woman's real arms free to reach out from beneath her baggy clothing.

  7. In NYC, I did once on the subway.

When I was transfering first time at Lexington Av/53rd St with friend, and since we were in hurry, we took Queens-bound train instead of Downtown. When I realize when train arrive at wrong station, we switch at 23rd St and back the right way.

  8. A friend of mine got off on an AMTRAK stop in Laramie, Wyoming and ran over to the bar to make a phone call. The train left (with his bags) and when the train stopped in Cheyenne an hour later, the guy got back on. After his phone call he hired a cowboy in a truck to beat the train to Cheyenne and gave him $75
