So, we had this baking class, and we are grouped by 5. Each of us would bake a type of pastry from scratch. On our very first day, My group mate was in charge of the scones, so he made em, and after baking them,(about 2 hours interval), he was also in charge of making this whipped cream frosting. After baking everything, the chef decided to try our scone, and said that it was salty, and so he denied that he used salt instead of sugar. then the chef took another scone from another person, and tasted my friend's frosting. She said "HMM", so we smiled, thinking it was good. and then she said, "this tastes bad, and when I tasted it, it tasted like salt!" So he can't deny anything now! I still can't believe that guy mistaken sugar with salt twice at different times. So funny!

Anyway im not a story teller so you might not think it's funny.so share your story!

  1. I also had a terrible meatloaf experience.

I had always hated it as a kid, and cook all the time but this was my first attempt at meatloaf.  I am recently married and my husband was all for it.

I baked it.  baked it more.  Baked it for ... must have been 3 hours or so.

It STILL came out like pudding!

I've never been so upset with myself for a cooking mishap.

  2. My story is the Jiffy story. You know, those little cheap boxes of Jiffy mix. This particular one was cornbread. ALL you have to do is mix it with 1/4 cup milk and an egg.  It couldn't be easier. So I made it and baked it and we sat down to eat it. It didn't rise very well, it was really flat and tasteless. I mean it did not taste good. So we're eating it and wondering why it tastes funny, and wondering if the box had expired or something. My husband looks at the directions and he says (jokingly) that the only way I could have screwed it up was to add 1/4 of an egg and a cup of milk (switching the amounts). So I got this funny feeling and realized I did add a cup of milk! It's Jiffy Mix for crying out loud! He still teases me about that one.

  3. I tried to make pancakes by scratch from the food channel's "Barefoot Contessa". It turned out to be some kind of really flat looking cakes. I think maybe i didnt have all the ingridients and no oil. I think im going to use the store bought brand in a box.

  4. Oh, yeah, I think everyone's goofed at some point. One time I was making a rosemary/lamb meatloaf. I thought "I like rosemary, I'll add a lot of it". Big mistake. I forgot how strong rosemary was - the meatloaf was inedible and it smelled like there was a pine tree in the kitchen. Try to imagine the look on a man's face when he really doesn't want to hurt his wife's feelings but he just can't choke it down and he's starting to turn green. It was the only meal I've ever made that my husband couldn't eat.

He likes to remind me of it every now and then  :)

  5. a couple.  one day me and my cousin were at my house alone and we decided instead of ordering pizza or something, this was before we could drive, we decided to make a big meal.  So we made chicken b*****s with some rice and stuff and when we were seating down to eat we realized the chicken wasnt done haha so my cousin called her mom and was like uh mom the inside of our chicken is like pink is it not done or is it just supposed to be like that.  haha it was funny, so we didnt eat it.

another time I was trying to make shrimp in a skillet and I smoked up the whole downstairs and my entry way which is pretty big.

then I was trying to make a fried pickle and yeah the oil was too hot so when I dropped the pickle in it it started popping and then I took it off and a flame of fire went up but went away but it freaked me out.

  6. I put a piece of bread in a toaster and kind of forgot about it. The toaster didn't automatically pop up the toast after so long either. After quite some time, I ran into the kitchen to the smell of firey, smelly toast. Not only did I ruin the toaster, I left a big burnt, blackened mark on the kitchen counter.
